LMAO again... It all depends on where you live mang, and what you cut... those 372's and 044/440/441's all see bars 28" to 30" out here in the PNW softwoods... and run like scalded dogs.

So to say it is a waste of time is nonsense...

Gary

Agreed Gary. In all softwood it'd be super fine. Not much cutting of the softwood here though. I'd run it in popple, but in hard maple or white oak, you'd have to be patient for sure. I don't even think a 440 should have anything over a 20" on it, then I'd move to a 460 or bigger. I cut very small amts of softwood here, unfortunately. No one will burn softwood here. Not even popple and they complain about birch. When we used to cut pine logs, we used the 44's with 20's and 56's with 24's and up. You can really lean on'em in softwoods. I don't even like running a 24 on my 7900, I go straight to my 56Mag. Just different types of wood here and there.

gotta go with what works in your area bro... Other hand, 44 was still the best all around saw ever made IMO...

They don't clear noodles well compared to a Stihl.

Are you aware that the 371- and 385-family Huskys has an inboard clutch?

In theory the chain adjuster could make it collect more noodles than a Stihl anyway - but it doesn't seem to happen.......:givebeer:

According to our local Husky dealer, in his words, the 372XP is no longer being imported in little spurts here and there. Per the dealer, the 372XP is "back in the line-up". I tend to believe him, because I was strongly thinking about buying a new 372XP while I still could, but he told me not to worry. But I'm such a worry wart. I bought one from him anyway....

He is right (it is back in the 2008 catalog as well), but we don't know for how long.........:)

Yes.

I've used a 372 for the same tasks as the 441 and it ain't got it. The clutch cover must just be more narrow.
