These threads seem to deteriorate into 2 people (not always the same 2) firing back at each other in a contest to "one up" each other. Sometimes it's all in fun and other times it gets personal. Do you read to the end or do you recognize the pattern and "change channels"?

I find them to be entertaining to a degree as it amazes that we can argue with or become offended by someone we will never meet. But I guess mostly, to me, it tells a lot about the physical/emotional maturity level of the participants.

But let me just say this; if you're arguing and you get in the last word, to me, it doesn't make your point more valid...it only means you're more hard-headed.;)

Sorry, I just had to say something.

Yes, it is one of the types of threads that I never look at, so I am usually
in the dark on all of the fights and bannings etc..

Oil, octane, synthetic, marvel mystery, those keywords keep me away as well

Some folks have 5,000 posts here, and 4,900 are all a sentence or less long.
It does not add to the forum at all.

In general, this site is quite good and useful for those that want to learn...

I also avoid all threads with "Andy" or "Lakeside" in the title................

I made myself laugh when I scrolled through after my first post, I was
not meaning you, Andy, on that "one sentence or less" observation,
although it might look that way..............................................

You are still my bff:heart:

I don't pay much attention to "this brand" vs. "that brand", I like Huskys so I may joke about Stihls (or other brands) but it's all in fun. Most all the major manufacturers make decent saws. Cheap homeowner saws are what they are and I understand that not everyone can afford a $1,000 saw so I try not to be too hard on someone when they have a question about a Poulan. I don't consider old saws to be junk like some here do, If an old Homie or Mac works for you that's great. I really enjoy the threads about restoring an old saw. Run what you brung!

Wow maybe your talking about me and thall. I can assure you that me and mr hall do it all in fun. We pm each other back and forth about upcoming vids and things. I guess you could say were the class clowns in the history class.

"Do You Read or Skip the Stihl vs Husky Threads?"

Would that include this one? WDO

Skip em.

I use only Huskies, but I would never hold anyone else's preference against them......at least when it comes to saws that is! Actually, now that I have CAD, I have been thinking on buying a Stihl just to try one

Kinda like a Ford/Chevy thing, you should be over that somewhere in elementary school.

There good for about a page worth, then deteriorate. Kinda like Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge threads.:dizzy: I guess life would be dull if we all ran the same things, to each his own. And then the inevitable Poulan bashing that follows..LOL Then I just go out and wipe off my "puke green worthless" old saws, and smile, and keep cutting with them, just like they have for the past 25 years..:greenchainsaw:

I read them to a point. Those threads are good because they start out as a comparison, such as power to weight differences, price differences, reliability and stuff.

After a while they turn into nonsense thats where I stop reading.

Those that are about spesific models generally are more meaningful (as long as they stay on topic, LOL) than the generic ones.......

It depends on who's arguing. If it's somebody who knows what they're talking about I'll listen. If it's the usual brand bashing wannabe stuff I'll pass it by.

And any post that starts with ...."I've never actually run one but I've heard"...is an automatic pass.

Stihl VS Husky threads I skip but for some reason if it is blonde/brunette/redhead, I always check to see if there are any embedded pictures and prefer them slightly husky!:)

I like em all

As long as a saw brings the wood home, it's a good saw. Some are faster, some slower. Any chainsaw is a good chainsaw if it brings the wood home.
