Which do you think is faster cutting through wood?
i have personaly seen a Stihl ms 440 cut faster through the same log than a husky 372xp......

lots of people say husqy's are faster than stihl...! in my opinion there not.

they may rev harder but not cut as fast!

have your say?

should i wear shoes or boots today, ahh heck i dont think im gona get dressed at all.

Lets see......

The 440e is a better saw than the MS180

The 338XPT is no 200t, but it can hold it's own.

NE346XP will just destroy a 260 pro

A 359 will soundly hand a 290 it's ass

The 570 will spank a 390

A 372xp is about equal to a 440/441, but it's smoother with better AV

385xp beats the crap out of a 460

390xp spanks 650

395 will kick the mother living crap out of a 660 any day of the week

The 3120 and 880 are both overweight and underpowered pigs, but at least the 3120 has good AV and creature comforts, while the 880 is like holding on to a shaky cinder block.

gotta pull you up on those last few (don't care about little saws):
-460 should be in the 372/440 group, not being compared to an 85cc saw (an 880 would suck a 346 through the intake and spit it out the exhuast, but so what)
-likewise the 650 (85cc) and the 390xp
-and the 660 is a smaller saw than the 395xp too, IMO there is no stihl equivelant.
-the 3120 and 880 are rated the same HP (880 has a higher rated torque). This means the 880 is less stressed so given the same circumstances will last longer. Same applies to the 260/346

I refuse to be part of this poll.

Stihl and Husky rock.

+1

Never ran a Husky before, don't know anyone with one?
It's like Ford or Chevy, get what you like, there both good and for a short time, there both still around.
.02 I've spent all my money now!:dizzy:

You forgot dodge!!! lol mopar or no car, but back to the question it is go with what you like they are both awesome brands. I have a husky 288 which is 88cc or so and my buddy has a new stihl 660 magnum which is 91cc or so and my saw is smoother but they feel about the same as to cutting speed with husky being a tad faster we tried them in the same wood with the same bar and chain lengths running identical chain I ran them both and he timed and he ran them both and I timed, maybe a second quicker with the husky if that it just depends on what brand you like.:cheers:

From running a 2171 and 440, the 440 was my choice. Their power was just about the same but the 440 having more grunt where the 2171 has more speed with a short(er) bar. The 440 is a much better built saw also imo.

:jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::dizzy::dizzy:

I dont have a Husky but have various Stihls. If huskys were more available locally i might well have one or two, and i expect i would be happy with them.
In real world cutting to the average user there probably is no percevable difference in performance between two saws of the same capacity, but different brands.

never used a saw that small
the 338xpt is no 200t, but it can hold it's own.
agreed
ne346xp will just destroy a 260 pro
far newer design
a 359 will soundly hand a 290 it's ass
150 dollars more, i would hope so
the 570 will spank a 390
never ran a 570
a 372xp is about equal to a 440/441, but it's smoother with better av
441 av is fully equal to a 372
385xp beats the crap out of a 460
10cc more, it should
390xp spanks 650
never used either
395 will kick the mother living crap out of a 660 any day of the week
the 395 is almost 2 pounds heavier, but is more powerful
the 3120 and 880 are both overweight and underpowered pigs, but at least the 3120 has good av and creature comforts, while the 880 is like holding on to a shaky cinder block.never used a 3120

Compare a newer Stihl with that newer husky, like the 211. The 180's comp was the pos 141 huskapullon.
The 338XPT is no 200t, but it can hold it's own.

The 200T is the climbing saw all others are judged by.

NE346XP will just destroy a 260 pro

Might in speed, the 026/260 has a unbeatable track record for reliabilty and build quality.
A 359 will soundly hand a 290 it's ass

True, but the 310, a fair comparison, will not be far behind. $100 difference also. Don't even mention a 361!!!
The 570 will spank a 390

Never seen a 570 run...

A 372xp is about equal to a 440/441, but it's smoother with better AV

True, some prefer rubber mounts, I can use either but if it's springs give me a 441.
385xp beats the crap out of a 460

It should, 8 more CCs, with the 385 being porky in the power-for-weight ratio.
390xp spanks 650

Never ran either...

395 will kick the mother living crap out of a 660 any day of the week

For their small power differences, the 660 is much lighter.
The 3120 and 880 are both overweight and underpowered pigs, but at least the 3120 has good AV and creature comforts, while the 880 is like holding on to a shaky cinder block.

Better had get an older 3120 or you will have a concrete saw for a chainsaw, for the time these saws spend in wood with long bars, feel will not be priority.

Fixed.:D

What in the world does a 359 have to do with a 290? What does a 385 have to do with a 460? These saws aren't even in the same class!

3120 and 880 are like shaky cinder blocks? What ever!

These stupid polls and and continuous Husky v Stihl threads are why good people are choosing to walk away from this site. Sad for us, but I can't say I blame them. I'm finding fewer and fewer topics I want to click on each week.

Yep! I find myself reading more and more oil threads these days.

I fully agree. In this instance the OP may not have understood what kind of storm would likely brew over a poll such as this. However, as you stated, the usual pile on monkeys were there in a hurry to bash at will. With the size of the chips on their shoulders, one could surmise, they have short comings elsewhere.

:agree2: It seems to have tailed off in the last couple of weeks. A quick scroll down often reveals nothing of interest.Must be time of year.

It just comes down to the chains. My stock 372xp is faster than my stock 044, but put a sharper chain on the Stihl and it will beat the Husky all day long.
So this proves what? lol
