Skidding West Virginia Style!!!!

Up at the farm last weekend with a friend from Phoenix. He wanted me to teach him how to skid logs out of the woods. So I hooked him up and taught him how we do it in West Virginia:

I was born in Texas and spent some yr. there. Down there, they'd put the strap around their neck.

I use my 79 Jeep CJ7 skidder to skid logs out of the woods. Sometimes up hills too but the carb gets a little cranky when it gets steep

Don't mean to sound like a know it all Yankee or somethin,

But shouldn't that strap be attached to a bigger log for full effect?

Yeah that was one of the logs I wanted to get to last time you were up but we ran out of time and weather. We skidded it down an old skid trail straight down the hill with larger, sharp edged rocks gouged outward. Hairer than it looks in the photo.

Actually that was the third 8 footer up the tree. The base was much larger, 28", but hollow so we bucked that 8 footer up. It was all he could do the hang on with this puny one!
