At the beginning of 2010 I was picking up 1-2 used saws a week locally from Craigslist ads and Uncle Henry's ads, this year I am lucky to find one every two months. I scan the ads often and all I find is a few over priced saws. Even the Pawn Shop I frequent hasn't had anything bigger than 45cc saws and I have found quite few larger Huskies and Stihls there in the past.

You guys finding this in your areas too?

Yep, it's drying up around here.

I had a saw shop I used to stop in once every couple of months. They always had a couple of fixer uppers.

Stopped in this past week and someone had cleaned them out. I never even told anyone on here about my "honey hole."

Still come across one every couple of months, but it sure isn't like what it used to be.

Yeah, I've noticed too. I've also noticed that the number of saws in some guys signatures keep expanding. Not complaining , but I've only got two saws and everytime I try to get a "good" deal on a Stihl on Craigslist it's gone minutes after posting. Same thing happens with Ebay. The saw hoarders on this site strike hard and frequently. I've got to improve my game, rise to another level so to speak.

I have a few emails out waiting for a response but nothing real good here, even the chainsaw bone yard has been picked clean of 98% of the big saws and I pulled the last two big saws from a local small engine repair shop. We do have lots of over priced Stihl and Husky saws on the CL but who has that kind of cash.

we two local ad bulletins and traders guides plus three pawnshops just finding parts saws if tough lately.

Uh....what?

Try finding large saws in Houston :bang:, then try finding large saws in Houston for realistic prices :bang: :bang:.

The MS361 seems to be a great deal. but the MS290 at $325 aint so hot. I got mine for $369 plus tax w/2 year warranty from dealer. I'd pass on that one.

I skulked about in the Pawn shop today.

Woodsharks and wildthingys, an early Homie XL, a nice super2, and a Mac with a Made in Mexico sticker on it.

Things will pick up again in a bit with Garage sale season looming.

Stay safe!

i believe it's this site

:msp_tongue: Yup, seems like every time I get into something on the internet, the supply and demand things goes berserk. It happened with vintage Pioneer stereos the same way...:msp_ohmy:

EBay, the number of people asking shops for used saws, running or not, even just parts saws, has sky rocketed in the last year, so much so that it has become a "hassle" at one shop. Even the local auction houses are not getting them in like they used to.

That and folks are keeping what they have even if they buy a different saw.

Very strange year so far, almost all Husqvarna products for me.

Looking for Mccullochs and all I get are Husqvarnas, like going shopping for a truck at a Chevy dealer.

Justsaws,

You got any interest in a Minty late model mac. IIRC the thing is a 2-10A. Lotsa plastic, Marked 3.3 cubes and is about the most ginormous and heavy 50cc saw I have ever seen. Looks like it has been parked for a couple decades and is quite fresh.
The Assembled in Mexico sticker is still on it.

Stay safe!

Around here the shops only have 1 or 2 used saw deals ,sometimes 0,but one shop said they have had 12 at a time! too bad I missed that day.

Pawn shops still have a good selection, however they aren't even priced much lower than new wtf .

Half price on a good one, seems fair to me like I see on CL alot, just haven't been too really lookin' for some but I'd prefer to try 'em out first so don't shop on E bay saws, unless there only like 20 bucks lol.

There is a strict no shipped saw policy in place at my house. Thanks anyway. Send it to Avalancher so he can have a saw that speaks Spanish in his warehouse.

No shortage here fortunately. People are realizing that a 372 on the bay gets over four bills in nearly destroyed condition. One local pawn shop doesn't even put them out on the floor any more.

Just checked my bay account. Out of seven saws last month, four went to Maine?????

About five years ago I had no competition in my area and had my pick of saws. Now there's twelve guys within 80 miles of me doing e-bay full time because they aren't fit to hold a regular job (medical marijuana card holders) and they snap everything up. So I've basically given up on finding any deals locally.
