On a serious note. We have a good year until we can receive a honest opinion on reliability. Ya every new model has its quirks but its a year or two in before the issues show.....if any.

I go back and forth on which saw I would purchase if to do it again. Prob still the 555 because I can mod it on my own time to compete with the 562. I also like the small mount. If you have no mod skills and want almost crazy power out of the box, buy the 562.

Take my opinion with a grain of salt but I'm likely the only cookie cutter that has been inside both of these saws and run them side by side. two cents spent

I resemble that comment!! Awesome!!!

Well, here is the difference in the two. This is hard wood with 20" guide. Both have new chains. First vid is me running them. Second is another member, Hoskvarna( the current owner of my 555). And the third is for MacLaren, stock saw 28" full ch.

Is the 562 faster, yup. Is the 555 fast enough O ya. Is it worth the extra 120 bucks and 1.5 year less warranty is your call.

mweba ,in your opinion what bar length would you be comfortable cutting white or red oak ,and would the 555 be fast enough to fell a 34-36 in oak? I am leaning towards the 555 just don't have the info on it we are getting on the 562xp.

A .5-.6 hp difference surely will make a difference, but you will need to cut from both sides anyway, in that wood - and a 90cc saw sounds more suitable! :msp_wink:

New chain is fine, if you filed them once, and checked the raker settings - but not right out of the box! :msp_wink:

555 or 562xp? That's a real tough call. I had a real short time with the 562 and a half a day with the 555. By the time the day was out, I was ready to go buy a 555! They sell themselves. The guy on the 562XP was ready to have one of those too...To be honest, it takes a stop watch on a cookie log to tell the difference, even after a day of doing work out in the woods. Then things like chain sharpness can skew the measurements.

My humble opinion? If you have the bucks go get the 562XP and know you have the "better" iteration by than sliver clutch cover and XP label. Oh yea..by what is said here on the boards! If your a little tight and just want to run the crap out the saw to earn the bucks...maybe the 555 is right. Its not as pretty, it is a little less power (and weight), small mount can be a disadvantage, but $150 bucks is either more gas or a couple of chains! Like I said. Real tough call. No wrong answer from a pure practical reference point...unless you can argue a real need for the large mount

...and then there is the 365 X-torq. If your young and strong...that's the one. Same money. Wow..Since the confusion is now complete. Think I'll just have to wait for the Jonsered 2260..:) Or 2166...Have to say folks these Swedes really have a bunch of very solid offerings in this $600-$700 price range!

Well, I looked at both today. My dealer has had the 555 for a while and just got the 562 a couple weeks ago. Already sold a few and said the reports so far are great. Both feel great in the hand, but the 555 is noticeably lighter feeling to me. I'll be gettin one or the other.
:msp_biggrin:

I took a moment to test out my new scale and get some info for myself. I weighed, both empty, and 562 with 20" tech lite and 20" solid bars and came up with the differences. I also weighed the chains and bars separately.

562 w/20" TL: 15lb 9.7oz
562 w/20" solid: 16lb 4.0oz
20" TL: 2lb 1.2oz
20" solid: 2lb 10.7oz
20" Lgx chain: 11.3oz

Looks like the 562xp PHO according to my scales is 12lb 13.2oz or 12.825lbs.

What's a 562 thread without some weight numbers thrown around?

Haven't weighed one yet. Maybe tomorrow if I remember.

The 562xp weight spec is 12.8 lbs over here, so that fits nicely!

The 560xp and 555 specs are 12.3 lbs.

Looks like the 560xp is not making it to Canada either, time to modify some small mount bars.

Will try the 562 when they come in in April (delivery date keeps getting pushed back), and give my judgement then, but I see the 555 outselling the 562xp in this market.

Actually that 12.825 may be just a hair too high. In checking what I weighed, I weighed two 18" chains. I weighed an LGX and an LPX chain to see the difference. The LGX chain is lighter than the LPX by a tad ;) But anyway, the 20" chain should shave a few more ounces off the weight of that saw, possibly putting it just under that 12.8lb mark :)

Got some more numbers off the scale today, here's what I got.

555 empty, 18" solid bar, lgx chain

555 PHO empty - 12.48lbs for you sawtroll

562xp PHO empty

12lb 12.8oz. converts directly to 12.8lb

Exactly, a 562xp with a 20" techlite weighs .7oz. more than a 555 with an 18" b/c. WIN!! :msp_thumbsup:
