Guess it was kinda stupid I said power, obviousily the 390 should have the edge. So I am wondering how close in weight the 390 is to a 7900, or ms460? Thank's for reply Andy.

Well without having scales, other than the missus's kitchen ones that if she seen me with a chainsaw on i wouldn't get sex for at least a year, i just held the new 390 and the 460 in each hand, both with 24 inch bars and the 390 is heaps heavier, now that's what ya call accurate to the nearest heap.

I don't see where 11.8 comes from, Husky has stated 11.9 from the beginning. :givebeer:

The max power specs are 3.5 kW, 4.7 hp(i) or 4.8 hp(m) - same as the 262xp.

11.8 lb was the weight quoted by someone here who got to run a prototype, guess that wasn't the official spec. Plus that's the weight of the 555, which has the same bar mount as the 560 XP, no?

Aw c'mon, I can do a year standing on my head. :hmm3grin2orange: Plus I'd think that sig line would accomplish the same thing.

If I remember right the 390 flush is about 16 lb 7 oz. A 7900 is 14 something. There's a picture of both in the saw weight threads.

LOL! Sounds like the 7900 is pretty light, and the 681 eh? I have heard the Solo wont hold up as well, and wonder why? Numbers look good on paper, never have tried one.

My neighbor and I cut some firewood for him and my father the last couple of days. I was running my 257 converted to a 262xp less the 3 shoe clutch, and he has last years ms 361. We ran em both hard and he even had to be impressed with the 257/262. I guess he was a little outmatched since my 257/262 was recently ported by me and my interpretation of a woods port. Not saying all of these saws are bad because I have run them all in the stihl and husqvarna line up and they are all good saws. I just am very happy with what I have and building it from scratch and porting it myself gives a person a sence of pride. So that is why I love mine. This arborist site is awesome, thanks for having me.:chainsawguy:

I am looking at a 257. What is involved in the 262xp conversion?

Well, as of now IMO, the 562xp has to be the best power to weight ratio. That damn saw is somethin else!

It produces good power no doubt, but it's heavy... Check the math though, cause I have a crappy memory... The venerable 7900 is still ahead of it "I think"...

You're right my friend! the 262 is 4.8 HP and 12.8 lbs./ the 562 is 4.7 HP and 12.3 lbs!

Actually she's a little heavier. The 562xp that is. When i weighed mine dry pho she was 12 pounds and 13 ounces.

Overall I feel the 562xp, the 372xpw and the 7900 are the best....

Piston assembly, cylinder, intake manifold, carb, clutch assembly, top cover/AF cover. Can't remember if there's anything else. You can "get by" with the 257's smaller clutch assembly and one-piece top cover if you want to cut corners a tad.
