good straight grained log, easy splitter i'd say,
interesting area where that log fell, looks like you can drive straight up to the log.
great to see that 090 cutting wood instead of being a show pony or shelf queen.

just noticed the cant hook and wedge, top stuff, it shows your not frightened to show you use these items when needed.

I recon the cant hook would be the best tool I ever brought apart from the saws for cutting wood, saves the back big time,

Neil, I just picked up the cant hook/lever from my husky dealer today, made by fiskar's, always trying to borrow one at the races to roll the billets around getting them prepared. Taking it out bush tomorrow to abuse the crap out of it. There are two different sizes from husky, I got the shorter of the two to see how it goes, might get the longer one in the future if I need more leverage

yeh, it has only buggered the top wire, I have cut it right back to the fence, the farmer can now put a chain around the top root and pull it back over, the red gum around here likes to grow in sandy lome that is low lying and gets very wet at times, we get quite a few coming down,

me son just put a cheap set of 4" hid driving lights on his falcon and all i can say is WOW .
just got back from testing, from behind the wheel it looks good to 600 m acording to gps
and standing on the road the light is blinding at 1.4 km if this is cheap light performance
i would say top brand would be over kill

Yeah the HID's are a massive step up over the standard globes mate - a lot easier on the eyes too and less tiring to drive with. I'm running Hella Rallye 4000's on my Navara and work ute with eBay 55w HID kits ($130) and the difference was massive. Like you I can see roos way outside the braking zone now. The standard high beam headlights were a joke on both vehicles.

Mate I have 2 x 35W HID in the main lights of the Patrol, and 2 x 70W HID's in the spots. The mains on high beam are bright enough, but when the spots kick in they certainly punch out some light. I have done a few night runs into the bush, and I turn night into day.

hey Darren you better fix the rings in the hilux, with the 75w HID's may not get into top gear!:msp_biggrin:

i/m looking into this, the new tritan has just so,so lights and my rodeo has worse since a roo smashed both the hellas last year.

are these just a new bulb or something

Watch going above 55W in the HID's. The start up current has been known to cause major issues.

You can get kits to fit standard spotlights/headlights from eBay stores like this one.

BRIGHT LIGHT AUTO PARTS items - Get great deals on items on eBay Stores!

All you need to know is what style/model globe your lights/spotlights take. Then you have to wire them up and mount the ballasts somewhere. Also watch some of the ballasts as the internal componentry is sometimes not epoxy mounted and will vibrate to bits and sometimes the ballasts aren't sealed against water entry. I wouldn't even look at the super cheap kits.

The guy I bought my HID kits off of said he'd had no end of trouble with the 100W kits as the startup current was so large that sometimes one or both of the ballasts/lights would trip out. I've heard of similar things with the 75W kits but I suppose it depends on the kit. 55W is fine by me and I travel on a lot of roads with high roo populations. I've seen them all well before I've got close to clobbering them as most of the road verges here are pretty open. The best set of lights on earth isn't going to help against those bastards that hop out of the bushes 10m in front of your vehicle
