That was the first thing I noticed in the pics, it's like Husky doesn't want these saws to last.:dizzy: Husqvarna get your head out of your a$$ these filters are inadequate in our environment!!!!!! Every saw sent to the US should have a flocked filter on the saw and a yellow/black one in the box for cookie cutting.:msp_wink:

I used the yellow mesh filter on my old 346 for 9 years, always had a little dust in the carb neck. Still blowing 165 psi. I put a flock filter on it after I learned a little here, but not sure it's needed. :msp_wink:

The standard for this area is "yellow 44" for near all conditions as the humidity levels throughout the year greatly limit the use of the flocked filter. When conditions get cold enough, some users......ha who am I kidding, hell most dont ever use the winter kit, let alone open the shutter to get some heat to the carb during the cold months, they just complain there saws run like crap.
 
Surprisingly the mesh filters don't seem to have caused any damage to the heavily used saws I see coming through the shop. Not a 550 through the shop but the 346's and such dating back a decade that are coming in with issues are independant from the neglected air filters. I still like a flocked filter myself though, just sayin.

I like the flocked also but it amazes me how many old Johnys come through here with mesh and a ton of hours. Many old saws did just fine with them....would be interesting to see the engine life difference.
 
I am trying to locate one in central PA as well with no luck??
