Not at all Rick. I just followed Neil back through the mountains from his mill to his house a while back and bloody hell, that old buggar can drive...

A couples of quick questions.

Is there a seal or O ring that goes on the bar studs through the oil tank ?
Is the rubbing plate supposed to capture the front stud ?

The front stud is pretty damned loose, I've lost it once already into the tank (thank my deity for extendible magnets, I never leave home without one in the toolbox ) I just might use some bearing retainer to secure and seal the stud.

The brake handle is cactus, been melted by the exhaust so barely works.

Needs an air cleaner top seal too, (or the foam filter, which I'm guessing is the better of the two) and the oiler adjuster is jammed.

But it runs !
Compression is good. Has that nice Husky ringa ding ding to it

Oh, and what size are the main bearings ? 6202 or 6203 ?

[edit] I threw a 3/8 rim on it and the 30" bar, just don't have any decent logs kicking around the house ATM.

If so yes I have. They are absolutely awesome. Thin, relatively cool, and bloody comfortable. Tough too and no rips despite giving them a fair workout.
Only issue I've had (if you can call it that?) is that they are so thin they don't really offer your legs much protection from bits of wood flying off the chain. My right thigh copped a hiding doing those smaller Casuarinas as when I was madly limbing out the bottoms, especially with the 550XP and 8 pin rim, any bits of branch it grabbed with the chain were shot into my legs like a javelin.
I ended up with some ripper bruises but at least I didn't die of heat stress like when I was wearing those crappy Foresters. Well worth the few hundred bucks. One thing you can't deny is that Stihl accessories are the best by far, regardless of which saw brand you prefer. Always quality gear.

Have a big old dead Box (Neils favourite tree ) that I need to drop.

IIRC it's about 40" across, a bit of a lean and it's a ####ty old thing dropping branches which is danger to the horses (only dead about twelve months) and it'll provide some good firewood, if i can keep chains up to it.

I was thinking of a conventional scarf but boring in from the sides on the backcut and leaving a strap at the back for support, then severing that as the last cut as the tree looks to my untrained eye as potentially being under a bit of stress with the lean and a potential slabber.

What say the experts ?

Some foil tape on the brake support might help too, it's amazing how effective some foil can be at reflecting heat.

Whenever I got a new 3120 I just flattened the two tabs in the outlet and didn't have an issue with the brake handle, it was an easy fix if you got to it first up

4 hour round trip though old son. I'm using the bosses POS Triton at the moment with no child safety mounts fitted so that stuffs that idea for at least the next 3 weeks.

Iron bark Euc Sideroxylon with a lean done it for me slabbbed out pop pop pop no biggy just a a fright and no harm, always mindful of with falling any tension wood logs

Just an example of a quota log that exploded soon as i fell it. as the mill started working on it the results are very evident makeing a good quota into fire wood. This log was Silvertop Stringy and, when they do this you cannot do much to get any sawn of value out of it.
