THANKS, Zogger and friends. I just downloaded Foxfire and No Scripts. This baby is humming sweet. Ron

Yer gonna confuse folks. It's "Firefox". FIREFOX.

I say again FIREFOX. From the Mozilla project.

This morning, I got the "Site is too busy now" message a couple times but no other problems.

I run Firefox with No Script.

I just looked at the scripts and there are not any but the main Arboristsite one and a bunch of Google junk.

The only one I've allowed is the main one.

I kept trying to get Foxfire to load...it was horribly slow.

I am not having any problem with IE 7. I run (and have been running for a couple of years) Microsoft Security Essentials. It's a free security software. It comes recommended by the IT guys at the college as well as the CIS instructors.

Something's happened in the last couple of days. I used to be able to navigate around here pretty quick - now I'm severely bogging every time I click. IE8, WinXP.

Not seeing messages, but it's running like I'm on one crank seal or something...

I'm having the same problem.
Maybe I need a new saw?:bang:

Yeah, a nice new 2260 ought to solve the problem.

But this site is still doing it every page, both here at the store and at home. Heading towards the intolerable stage now.

Darin.......................HELP!!!!

I routinely get "connection timed out " messages when switching pages here.
Rarely get them on any other site.
But this site is heavier with ad banners and gif ads
(all those gifs really choke down a browser)
than any other site that I bother to return to.

edit: yeah, all the waether sites are prety heavy with scripting and such stuff by design/necessity,
so they can be onerous to load too.

I run a pretty heavy hand of blocking wares for all the virus/trojan reasons
but will turn things down or off when i need to find something.
( just finally got fed up with the drive wiping and reinstalling, even with ghost copying from a backup drive with a fresh instal and all the settings ready done.)

and yes I understand the reason for adverts.

I understand the need for ads as well, but I know where to find the advertisers and sponsors here. I block the blinky animated stuff that is pulling from outside domains, just as a general rule of thumb while surfing.. They want to code in alt text ads, that's fine with me, and I know it isn't that hard to do, just takes doin it....

I just go click on what I know are site sponsors when I need something, or type it in from memory, off the main page (example, few minutes ago checking out weedeaterman.com for air filters..), but from sub pages and forums, nada, they ain't there. Can't stand buggy pages. Got totally annoyed so bad a few years ago when still on dialup and webpagers got ridiculous stupid, ten minutes to load a page or it never did load, that I had to do something. And I did. Crap begone!

Linux OS, firefox for a browser, with add ons noscript, adblock plus with the easy list. Man, what a difference on the web now.

I'm getting this "Arboristsite is not responding due to a long running script" message with every page that I load. Getting it with any and every page; even when going from one page to another in the same thread. The header/banner loads but locks up until I hit "stop script" to get the thing functioning. Happened on the home computer this morning and now on the store computer as well, so that kind of rules out the computer itself. Only happening here on AS; no problems with any other sites. Starting to get real annoying. :msp_angry: Anyone got any ideas?
Started about a week ago. I also notified the Mods but no change. Looks to be an Internet Explorer problem or malware that's invaded IE, not a Site problem. "Long Running Script", my ax.

I switched to Google Chrome and use it for Arboristsite only. That cleaned it up and it runs ten times faster, even though it's totally unfriendly to me for about anything else. Reminds me of Shareware, but it runs like lightning. IE runs like a snail in January.

As others have stated, No problem with Firefox.

Also no problems on a Mac. Safari or Firefox.

However, All the animated sponsor ads up top could give you a Seizure, And a Mobile version of the site would be great!

I've been using Chrome for years now. Takes about a month to get used to it, but now I can't even look at IE without getting a headache. You'll realize after a while that IE is really a P. O. S.

Learn some of the tips and tricks of Chrome, and you'll understand what's going on.

For mobile, use Tapatalk. Since I downloaded it 6 months ago, I think I've been on the actual 'computer' site maybe twice. This application is so easy and fast, it makes no sense any more to use the computer.

I have it, Not all that impressed by it for my BlackBerry.

Sooo many forums have a Mobile version these days, I much prefer that.

Maybe the blackberry version is different than the android version I'm using. Wouldn't surprise me.

Google Chrome still works and runs at least 10 times faster and without the Script error prompt from Internet Explorer. Microsoft cannot solve this. That's the way it is. Guys, this is a mess. :msp_mad:

Z71Mike Knows exactly what he is talking about.

I did run "google CHROME" for maybe one day...it sucks compared to Mozilla Foxfire..!!!!!

It's FREE...very SAFE...and very few problems...latest version is #22
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And Absolutely don't run Zone Alarm Anti-Virus or Firewall....both are MALWARE...!!!!

Getting them OFF your computer is a nightmare..they leave these "traces" behind...

Took me a day and a half to get all the "left behind traces" crap off my computer..-

Give you guys a laugh...called computer dude that's real good and asked to get them off..he says...
"For two twenty I remove them" - I said $2.20..?? sounds good - he says $220...I say "no freaking way"..!!
He says...OK..for you I'll do it for $180" - - after a day and a half - - I understood his fee rate..:msp_sad:

So, what did you eventually install for virus protection after dropping $180? Did Mozilla offer anything to go along with their Browser?
