Is it their regular bar and chain oil or their woodcutters bar and chain oil?

The woodcutters variety was introduced as a cheaper option and is normally around $10 a gal or so.

It's not that bad of a price for Stihl oil but tractor supply has theirs for $7 on sale right now. Hard to justify twice the price. Especially in the summer months it's just as good as stihl or husky name brand oil in my experience.

These days the only time i spring for stihl or husky bar and chain oil is winter weight.

I can assure you the difference in quality between stihl bar oil and homelite bar oil is much less than the difference between their current saws!

The picture in the ad is too small for me to tell exactly what it is, as far as the reg. or the woodcutters stuff.

I'll check out tractor Supply. :msp_thumbup:

Yeah, I feel the same way about the canned fuel.

I've gotta make a run to Wal-Mart in a day or so. Think I'll see what they have on hand.

I love the master mechanic bar oil,, its the best out there as far as I am concerned but not for 19 a gallon,,, I have 2 gallons of it left,, got them on a trade deal with the echo tech I know,,, I went to tsc the other day and picked up a few gallons of the 7.00 stuff,,, I will give anything try once

you'll be glad you saved money. theres little if any difference in cheap vs expensive bar oil for wood cutting.

Philbert just informed me that Menards have gallons on sale for 4.99 if you have any near you.

Stihl oil is $19.95 here

And I haven't bought any of it in over a year. If you ask my Stihl dealer for a gallon of bar oil, he hands you a gallon of Husky oil. He sells both saws, but I do not think he even stocks Stihl oil anymore. I can get it at Town and Country but won't buy it at that price. I have a gallon of TSC waiting on cooler weather, then I'll try it.

Cheaper is better for something you are just slinging all over the woods anyway :msp_wink:

I bought 6 gallons a few weeks back of the tsc oil. It seems to work good and is a little thinner than Stihl oil. It should work fine in the winter also.

I have found TSC works well here in the summer but has to be thinned in winter.
