Those are nice bulletproof engines. The only trouble they ever have with them are the bar oilers and sometimes the modules. I have one I use occasionally and like it a lot. You'll probably find that oil cap part number on lots of saws. The shape of the top of the cap is a little different on some of them but the threads are the same so they will work.

A remarkable machine over 35 years and still pulling chain like it was fresh out the box. it's running a big bar so worth checking oiler is working (Cheers for the tip)

That will work. The oil cap never changed for 30 years and is the same on the 5700 series as well. Say, if anyone ever has trouble with the bar oil pump, just be sure that the bar oil tank is filled to the top. If slow, that's usually about all it needs to get it started again.

These saws are built like tanks and can even pull a 28" bar on command:

Thanks for the info guys

Thats what I need Edwin "a truck load of cut wood and some nice saws in my drive"

As you can see, these logs were huge. I cross cut them initially with the 28" bar on the Mac and then noodle cut them in half with the 361 and its 20" bar. Only then could I get them on board the tailgate. It was a winning combination.

As I recall, this was eastern cottonwood that I eventually split into campfire logs and bundled for the folks camping at the local lake. I believe this is the ProMac 5700, but the old 605 or 610 would also have worked.
