they're going to try installing a new jet in the original carb, though weren't sure that would work as it is not threaded

they would like me to bring the bar & chain so they can cut some wood with it

i was thinking of bringing in the "half ripped" piece of cedar i had been working on when i wrecked it

what do you guys think::

Sounds like they are in unchartered territory with your saw. You have more trust and faith in your fellow man than I do. If someone is going to tear my saw apart without knowing how to fix it, I might as well do it myself.

Bring them the bar and chain......and leave your pick-up truck there so they can fill it with firewood! As long as they ere going to stand behind the outcome, let them test the saw a bit. If they can run a tank or two through it, that's more than you got out of it so it should be ok. I spent a bit of time around super stock drag engines the rule with them is if they don't blow up on the first pass you got a good one.

yeah, this whole thing is scaring me too - they dont seem to be able to tell their heads from their toes - did you contact stihl yet - maybe they can give you an alternate dealership to go get this problem solved - I dont think they need to touch your saw again, do you?

hate to say it bud but ,if was me ,id be at the point of biting the bullet and putting some money in the saw or sell it on ebay and try again. this time from a dealer.
to me the problem with these biggger saws is they are probably owned by people usin themj in buisiness. like buyin a used wk truck. somebody else got the best out of it.a smaller pro saw is many times owned buy occasional users that just want the best. one advantage u have is that on this site are people who
have proven they can doit rite. if u keep the saw thats the route id take.jmho
and good luck hope u get it rite.id like to be there watching when u do .ah satisfaction . can turn a bad dayaround rite quick.

well i got it back

with the new jets, i'm a c note lighter

and i'm sure some would say i got rooked but, that's what being a rookie is all about

hope i can get some stuff cut up tommorow and make it all back before i need more maintenence

day one, no mishaps

would still be out there millin' if'n i didn't have an in law birthday party to go to this afternoon ~

all i did was split a 5 foot, 14" cedar log,

and quarter a 6foot, 20" log
