Which of these saws will respond best to woods porting?

Okay, so.... For the first time, I've decided to have one of my saws ported, but I can't decide which one... I've been trying lately to stick to a three saw plan, and the three keepers are a 346xp NE, 562xp AT, and a 372xp xt. As far as condition goes, the 346 has the lowest run time, but none of the saws are less than good to very good condition. So, in your opinion, which is the best candidate for my first woods ported saw?

Chris

The 346

Flip a coin they're all good. Have you done a muff mod on any of them. I ran my ported 346 today, yea it's a beast.

I haven't muff modded any of them yet. I want to, but I've never done one... I've read that sometimes you can lose power, or melt plastics, if you take it too far. And I cannot find good pics of what 'just enough' looks like. I'm sure I've got all the tools necessary to do it, just lacking the 'know how'

Mastermind on here does some great work.

A sharp chain on the 346xp would likely be an improvement.

You might as well port the 562xpat, that way you won't be totally crippled when it goes down with hesitation issues, warm start issues, and loose fasteners. If you leave the 50 and 70 alone, and just cut wood, you'll have the best chance at some reliability. Well, as much reliability as you can expect from a flimsy Husqy.

Port the 372. I've never run a 562, but I bet a ported 346 would be pretty close. Keep a 16-18" bar on the 346. A 20" on the 562 and a 24" on the ported 372. Keep an extra 32" bar around for those big wood days. Sounds like you have a solid 3 saw plan.

I'm running a 16" on the 346, 20" on the 562, and 24" on the 372. I'd like to get at least a 28 for the 372 eventually.

I'm surprised that there's not much love for the 372...

All 3 saws get pretty equal usage. I try to use the correct saw for the job. Most of my limbing is done with my 346, felling and bucking 372, and if I'm doing a smaller job and I only want to bring one saw, I typically grab the 562.

I was thinking I would expand my sawing capacity if I ported the 372, that way if I ever needed to run a 28" or 32" bar, I'd have a saw that could handle it.

Maybe I'm wrong...?

Well its kinda like which one would you rather build- a tuner Honda rice burner with a fart can but is still fast because its light(346), a 355 small block chevy tuned to spin 9000+ rpm(562), or a 600ci big block mopar hemi making 2000+ horse(372)? I know i would do the biggest one because im young and dumb, but you can make your own decision.
