My pair is a 5100, and a 120si. Would like to upgrade to the 7900, but not this year. I really only use the 120 for felling and bucking big trunks now. The 5100 is so much smoother.

Glad to see someone using their DOLMAR saws. Usually pics are of a saw on the mantle, i'm not complaining, mantle saws are purdy.

I wish I had more wood cutters and PROs in my area. Average tire kicker paid $100.00 for his last saw and he had it for 15 years....course, he only cut with it 12 times and every time he had to have me clean it out and get it going for him. Grrrrrrr.

Hey, btw. I'm back after my little 10 day vactation from AS. I'd like to apolagize if I've offended anyone on the site. I will not even hint at or mention anything involving selling. Please do not PM me asking about buying saws. Please go to your local dealer, I don't want to get into trouble with the site because then all i can do is read about the stuff and not get knee deep in the BS sometimes.

nice pics,two saws,lots of wood,no problems
sounds like you had a productive day in the woods.
I have been getting the same results from my 5100.
again great pics!

I have a flat bed trailer kinda like yours. 7000Lb capacity. I put sides on it with 2x4 posts and some old plywood and OSB I had laying around. I made the back with a slot for 2x8 boards to drop in for a gate. It sure made life easier for hauling wood from the woods to the house. I can pull the sides off easily enough to load larger stuff, but most of the time I just pitch it over the sides or haul it up the back. I dont have to strap it down or worry about it falling off along the way. You must be using a wood boiler cause those pieces dont look like 16"! Making them all 16" take quite a bit longer to take in that many cords.

Same trailer....been overloaded to beat hell already... Anyways, it is a mutilpurpose trailer, and one that I use to haul the stangs to the track. I am working on building a 14" trailer right now, with sides. Might not be done for a while, but the plans, steel and axles are there. I normally haul the rounds and the 8-10 foot sections, then cut and spilt them once home. Makes transport easier. This was the first outing that it was cut/spilt and stacked all in the same deal. I stacked it so I could get the big straps over each row.

Most of the pieces are 20-22" with some right at 24". 24 is the max I can go, but when people help cut, it isn't always exactly 18"..lol. There are a lot of shorter ones in there too. lol.

No boiler here...Just a wide double door stove.

Umm, interesting how you balance that saw, is that a Dolmar thing?

Don't forget this pic either...

The pic on the slab i didn't think too much about, was trying to show "most" of the slab. The 5100 is actually sitting almost all the way on the slab, but with the super short bar, it wouldn't balance like the 7900 would. It balances much better with a 16" or 18" bar. The 5100 is wearing a 13" in the pics.

The pic on the round is on the round, it is NOT on the box in the background. The 7900 balances about perfect with a 24" (just an ever so slight forward lean, but not much).

I didn't really pay a whole lot of attention to it, but now that you mention it, it does look pretty cool. They are both very smooth and balance well.

Freak, I was asking myself what I would do If I had to get myself down to (2) saws. Haven't run the 7900 yet (isn't done), but wondered if the dolmars would be at the top of tmy "keep" list for #1 and #2. Dolmar should start sending you royalty checks for helping them sell saws!

I can't get down to just two saws... Not now. Maybe 5-10 years, but I doubt it.

I'm not giving up the 5100 or the 7900. With that being said, I love my modded 372...Use your own conclusions. Big dave will make them scoot. I swear the more i run either saws, even the year old 5100, they run better and better.

Thanks for the pics! They always make a post more interesting. Those Dolmars are pretty nice, that's for sure. And the 7900 is really a lot of saw, especially when the price and weight are factored in.

Where did you get your bar adapters?

Oh yeah I didn't mention the weight...Almost the power of a 660 and the weight of a 372 that had an extra serving of turkey at thanksgiving. LOL.

Brandon, I'll send you some pics, but the bar adapters for the 7900 were made by a local machinist. I'm checking on what it would cost to run off a hundred or so of them. LOTs of people asking, but don't wanna "quote" anything until i know roughly how much they are gonna cost me. I'm having one made for my 372 to try out also. Trying to "standardize" my fleet and spare bars/chains/etc.

Same guy also makes an extended chain catcher for the 7900 that helps the curly fries from binding up.

I hear ya about the standardizing. I reorganized my wall-of-bars today. I have two different 28" bars (93, 91dl), and 2 bars that both run 91dl (.050/28" for the 066, .063/24" for the big'uns). So I keep three different bars and three different loop sizes where I could get by with one loop size and two bars. If I knew then what I know now.

Do you have any pictures of the chain catcher?

Anyway, keep us up to date on the bar adapters...

here is a pick of the stock 6400/7300/7900 makita 6401, etc chain catcher. The chain is loose becasue the bar cover is off and I couldn't hold it tight while snapping the pic. Not a whole lot of room in there once the chain is tight...

Cute 13" bar! What's the part number / bar mount on it? Where did you get it? Oregon's Site only lists .325" bars for the 5100S/346XP K095 mount. I'd like to pick one up. I bet Madsens would make a 8 or 9 pin sprocket for the small spline clutch drums.

Here's my way: Lots of saws and little wood! Gives me a chance to seperate the "Studs from the Duds". We filled two pickups but it's really about the saws......Bob
:jawdrop: Where is the 111s????

I guess you didn't need the 111s for that wood, but did it feel bad about staying at home? :help:

You will find 3/8" K095 bars if you go to the Canadian site, and go to the larger saws that use K095 in the selector guide (262xp, 357xp etc) - however they don't list any 13" ones.....

Yes, but not in 3/8", and laminated bars only.......

Cookie Cutters

Hi Thall! You remembered! The 111s's last job was some cookie cutting fun a few months ago when a young guy came over to pick up a Husky 266. Since then it's just been sitting but I have gotten another one together that needs only an air cleaner element to be complete. Any hint where I can get one of those? I have a third that I would trade parts from if needed.....Bob

655?

Hey, What's a 655? My guess is that Homelite VI55 from Washington that you were a bidder on. It should be here by late today. He shipped it yesterday am. I have another one that this new addition should make complete. If you check the bidding on that 550 your so happy with I think you went over me to get it. I have one of those in a bucket that needs main bearings to be good. I was tempted to offer it to you but then you solved the chain adjuster problem. Yes there are two 360's in that picture. One I am keeping for my Homelite collection............Bob

PS..... Sorry about the 655. We could work out a bidding agreement for the future.

 Nah Bob, I had you confused with CBfarmall, Hes got the PP655.

You did out bid me on the 955 (listing as a vi55 was a mistake due to a worn side cover) But thats my loss, no biggie. I had to go to work and threw a lame azz bid in at the last minute thinking Id get lucky.

The 550 I won was a BIN, the guy was clueless and just wanted to offload the two saws I got from him. Got the 550 and a cherry SXLfor $55 each with BIN.:dizzy: Plus he combined shipping !!

I just stepped in it that day.

If your still willing to part with the 550 let me know.

And yes, we need to make a list of whos who so were not trying to out bid each other.

Sorry if I cost you $$$ on that one Bob.
