I went to get parts one day when the 362 came out. I went over and took a look and picked it up. Felt like a big fat box compared to a 361 0r 036. That was enough for me. I'll keep my 036s running and feel no need to "upgrade". Besides that the new saws are going the way of new cars as they are not friendly to doing your own repairs.

60cc saws are happiest with 20" bars. Yes you can run a 24", did it on a homelite super XL for years. You really want 70cc for a 24". For that I'll keep my 038 saws

I disagree with the first sentence and totally agree with the second.
If a person wanted a 660 there is three in the Tradin Post. It seems as if many are wanting to unload that model.
I am not recommending a 660 just making an observation.

If you want a saw that will own a 25" bar, get a MS461.

I've heard a ported Echo 600p will cut right with a stock ms461. Powerhead would be 1 1/2 lbs. lighter and (even after porting), cost about $200 less. What's your thoughts on this since you've done a nice port job on a 600p?

I have a 362 with a muffler mod. I like it and it isn't going anywhere. 95% of the large wood I cut is hardwood. A 25" bar is too much for a steady diet but can fill in when needed briefly and then skip link is a good option. My 362 bar oil output is extremely inadequate for a 25" bar which adds to the limitation. It is a little nose heavy with the ES 25" but I won't complain that the saw is too light. Now the 362 permanently has a 20" and the 25" is comfortable on the 460, sometimes a 28". Take advantage of your discount. Get a 441 or 461 or a good used saw (trade-in) in that caliber and apply your discount, learn from the house mechanic how to rebuild it like new or better. Use their tools and knowledge and grow. Before long it could grab you and you may even develope a sideline job if you don't cut into the dealer's business.

No surprise there, as that's exactly what it is! It will feel even worse if you compare it to a 560 family Husky, but that's another story.

I seriously doubt that, certainly not with a 25" bar. They do mod well, but not that well.

The Echo saws are irrelevant, and that comparison is even more so.

Play with a carb from a 036 then compare that with a 362.

So go play with a 036 carb and 362 carb.............

Have no desire for an M-tronic either. Dumbing down of saw owners just like cars :

"Excellent Acceleration
Thanks to the electronic ignition timing and fuel metering, you can quickly accelerate – even after a cold start."

Yea rev it up, with no warmup, great idea from stihl. Other considerations aside, most wear occurs during warmup, but it WILL sell more saws , when they break. Then you will get, "it's not worth fixing, but we have a brand new...."

BTW I have a 292 chevy six in my PU with single barrel choke carb. I did "upgrade" to a single wire delco distributor, but carry a spare behind the seat. It gets nearly 20mpg on highway. I can fix nearly anything short of major engine failure with what I carry in my toolbox. The fuel pump is not azz backwards and in the fuel tank. I did have one go though, I strapped a motorcycle tank to the roof w/a bungee and it ran fine on gravity feed.

I'm waiting for you guys to say these echo saws will cut wood by themselves, wearing a 48" bar, then split and stack the wood for you, and at the end of the day make a good hot supper, grow a set of boobs and a vag, and go to bed with you they're just that good!.. ..run with a 461:baaa:

I think ECHO does make a model or two that does that, but you have to pay dearly for it.

Actually, this member (who I will not name because it was in a PM) told me his ported Echo 600p would "outcut a 441 stock all day long" and "we raced 461 with me running a 20inch and another man w/echo 20 inch and the echo was neck in neck with 461". I don't know though, maybe you know more than he does (sarc).
