Maybe it's just me but that sounds real dangerous if the tree as large as you are talking comes down wrong on back hoe and operator. Conventional felling of the tree and then dealing with the stump is much safer.

I held my tongue on that one but I completely agree...

so i did some math, the calculator on the left is how many hp per inch the ms 211 has with a 16 inch bar, the middle calculator is the 362 with 25 and on the right a 441 with 25 inch bar, if my calculations are correct (and correct me if i am wrong or if it doesnt work like this) the ms 362 should cut better than what i am used to with the 211 and previous saws

I like running my 362 and the 441 with a 20" bar. I would use the 441 when running a 25" bar. The 362 is a good saw but no better than my old 361, just a little different.

I really liked the 361, but wouldn't want a 362 - it as a model that only was created to comply with EPA rules, not because a new model really was needed. The US sold 361s were slightly demoted though, also because of EPA.

ok guys so how does a 362 with a muffler mod stand against a 441? does the m tronic carb support mods on the new saws? i will do some googling to see if i can learn up on the m tronic carb

Buy an 044/MS440/460/461 and be done with it.
i would love to get a 441 and be done with it, however a ms 362 is 779 dollars, a 441 is 969 dollars and a 461 is 1169 dollars, a 461 is by far out of the question, a 362 is affordable and a 441 is really pushing the budget and that is with the discount i get. i have the tools and shop as well as someone willing to help me to mod a 362, and if it is comparable to a stock 441 it will be considerably cheaper to go with the 362, this is the reason i am asking about the 362 so much, not becuase i dont want a ms 441 but simply because i cannot afford a 441

That hsell is a bully ,don't mind him ,the 362 is an awesome saw ,and should be fine for general firewood duties .

Or save a bit longer then sell either the 290 or 390 (I'd say the 390 as it's about the same size/weight as the MS362 but with a lot less power) and then either buy the 362, 441 or 461. You also might keep up on the classifieds on here as there are usually deals to be had. The 362 is a great saw and it should serve you well. OR, you can save a few more dollars and wait a bit longer and get something you'll be truly happy with. It sucks to wait but sometimes it's worth it.

well i feel dumb now, my price on a 362 is $608, and for a 441 is $697, however there will be a christmas sale coming up that i never though of that will reduce those prices even further, now to convince my mom to get a 441 instead of the 362 is the main obstacle lol
