I use 110 octane VP, I see no issue with the klotz
I've run vp and klotz, never had a problem, but it seems like the leaded fuel clogs the spark screen faster than unleaded.
The only fuel I would consider would be the Small Engine Formula, SEF92, or similar from other brands. Anything more than that is a waste and actually may slow the saw down. You are not buying performance with higher octane fuel.

True but here all we got is 87 or 110. Otherwise I would run 91 premium, but gotta love Iowa and our corn fuel! You can have any fuel you want, so long as it is ethanol
Lots of race gas is oxygenated, which often means it contains alcohol.

Only things here that don't is the parts store 110 and the 87, no more premium station s left.
What about mixing 110 ethanol free with e free 87,89, or 91, like 1 to 3, ???

Pump gas is all you need. Lots of guys even run higher compression modified saws on 89 octane e-free. I myself run premium only. Anything higher and you're running slower burning fuel for no reason.

My dad has used 87 for years, and it's never been a problem yet. I would drop my 110 in a heartbeat if someone near me carried 91. 110 is overkill, but I also don't like the idea of having my saws detonate themselves. I have the extreme ends of the spectrum. Plus if you run race gas you get to enjoy the smell

87 E-free is fine in any and all chainsaws. I run 91 because that's the only E-free we have here.

Mdavlee ran a 550xp on race fuel and it was slow and didn't like it. Ran much better on 87 pumps gas.

I thought race fuel was only necessary when you were cutting cookies and were being timed?

In MO some of the QT's have an extra nozzle which is Red and is non ethanol. Price is usually about 50-60 cents

Where are you getting this info?
Most oxygenated race fuels I have seen use MTBE, ETBE or the like. In fact I have never seen one use alcohol as a oxygenator.
