Dolmar PS540

Try a Dolmar PS540 It's a real good dependable saw!!!!!!!

o20T is worth every penny, unreal power and very light. I never used the husky but they are heavy compare4d to the Stihl. Don't know if i would have sung the same song when they were $650 though. The first week i got my first one i dropped it from about 20ft then 70 ft the next day! No damage at all. Bad saw lanyard.

I'll second Steve in that I know plaenty of tree "professionals" that use the Dolmars...I think the issue with Dolmar is there aren't all that many dealers around and pricing. I am fortunate enough to have a dealer a mile from my house, but the next nearest dealer is over 40 miles.

Has anyone had any experience with Shindaiwa/Redmax saws? I have a bunch of their trimmers and blowers and they are great. I'm wondering if their saws are as good.

Alan

Shindaiwa's larger saws are ok but there climbing saw is terrible. I haven't seen too many Red Max saws but the ones that I have seen haven't been real good. I would only use those manufactures for blowers and trimmers, personally. I will only use Stihl or Husky and most professionals will agree with me. With exception of a few Dolmar fanatics in this forum.

As far as Echo goes, we've worked on several sold by Home Depot, and it seems once they have a problem, they can't be fixed. We have a great mechanic that has no problems with his repares on other saws, but the Echos just won't stay fixed.

Dolmar - Don't forget who owns Dolmar. That blue Makita is the same saw, and they do a great job. Husky and Stihl are just the two biggest saw companies in the world, thats why so many Arborists use them, not because they dislike the other brands. I don't know of anyone who owns a Dolmar or Makita that is not satisfied with it 100%.

I believe that Husky is the best. They always start fast and smooth. I've used them for as long as i can remember with no problems. Stihl also makes a great saw but when you compare prices and models Husky makes a better saw for the money

stihl always has been a favorite.
i got two solos that are as good as the stihls, it appears.ive only used one husquevarna ,and its a cuttin fool.
if u look at these things. most seem to have the same technology. some use different methods to obtain the same results.brakes etc. of the better made saws ,it seems to me they all sellin about the same thing in different configurations.and most are pretty dang good.jmho

I have found that the Stihl Red Lightning is the best all round saw. It has alot of low end grunt, which is great for lowering those pesky ole stumps at ground level.

Hey all, I am a Stihl fan thru and thru, IMHO I think you just can't go wrong with a Stihl, and their other products like bars and chains and axes are also top notch. I am not the right person to ask about husky, I owned two of them and they gave me lots of trouble right off the bat, so I probably will not own another one for a while, not saying they are bad saws, I just do not think they like me very well, but me and my Stihls get along real good. :D
