Well I need to do some pruning with a one hand saw on a ladder and my Husky 55 is a little large. What would be a good new/used saw?

You need no chainsaw at all upon a ladder. Think about getting a extendable pole prunner for reaching up. With a Stihl HT101 or HT131 you can reach up about 16-17 feet from the ground. Alot safer than using a ladder......

I have a 28 foot ladder and I will need to be up around 24 feet as some snow took down some large branches on a oak tree.

Evin,
What size limbs are you pruning? I have a cheap 13" pruning saw from HD that I use around the house. You'd be suprised how fast it will cut through limbs. Matter of fact I just used it last weekend to cut down 3 overgrown ligustrum trees (approx 3-4" diameter trunks). It went through them no sweat! And a Silky would be even faster.

Also if you are running a saw in the tree you need to be tied in.

Most of the broken branches are less than 8 inches. I have seen an McCulloch 14 inch on Ebay for around $35.... but not sure on how dependable they are.

That would probably be about the largest I'd want to cut with a handsaw. How many limbs you talking about?

24' up, chainsaw, ladder, .........sounds like a recipe for disaster.
Call an arborist, it will be cheaper than the hospital bill.

You could always get one (a handsaw that is) and give it a shot. If it turns out a power saw is needed to do the job you should really call a climber. Then you will always have the handsaw. I use mine frequently.

Got Kaiser only $15 :) Although I did have a friend that did some tree climbing a month ago to prune up some trees.... maybe I should call him.

My Corona was about $20 at the hardware store. Not familiar with the Kaiser.

Sit there and drink the corona, let a pro swing like a monkey.
