I. Sure someone else on here was doing that and it worked a treat but maybe used a different poison put the poisoned meat in a container with a hole in it to stop other animals getting in

Yep, that was me, used termidore, er Fripronil, mixed in with uncooked minced chicken at a 0.05% rate, worked a treat. (google for correct amount, going by my forgettory).
And as followup, the following years have seen no wasp activity, the newly emerging queens can spot the old poisoned nests as they see in a different UV spectrum, and then set up in that old nest, after a bit of time, they are dead too, and the same happens again and again.
oh and it also kills termites :)

We had several nests about us from unkept paddocks, couldnt go looking for them as it was 7foot tall grass etc, otherwise the dusting sounds pretty good, albeit somewhat adrenaline pumping being so close to the nest.

Hey fellas - what oil are you running in your firewood saws? I wouldn't mind going full synthetic but not sure what is the better brand to try. There seem to be some good brands out there.

on my bar i use any old engine oil like 20/40 multi grade but some times i use Stihl high end $$ bar lube. In my 2 stroke mix i use any 2 stroke brand castrol stihl and sometimes a really expensive synth bean oil Castor 927... I cant tell any difference in performance with either when they burn or rub away in hard old red gum like this weekend
