Jethro it might be time you started one in your area. Someone had to start it here. (I don't know the history of this organisation but it has helped so many people) It's like your local volunteer fire department. Someone had to start it some time or other may as well start now and by you. I can tell you it is some hard work but it is a joyous work. And heck it gives you a reason to be out and run your McCullochs. Ron and I call it therapy. It's a good way to give back to your community.

I think it's a good idea Brian I'm wondering if it could be tied in with a GTG of sorts perhaps. Definitely understand the therapy thing absolutely get that it's like a work out for the body but a rest for the brain away from the rat race of life and just be absorbed into the moment letting the chips fly. My biggest issue at the moment is I have no 4x4 for carting wood around and nowhere to dry a big amount yet eather. But its early days I'm still young:)

This is what I'm doing at times haha poor car 20181204_211232.jpg

As the name states we are a Wood Ministry. Local churches I bet would be willing to help out. Many have programs to help the needy and this would fit right in. Maybe one might have a trailer you can use, another my have a small piece of land you could use and so on. As you gain membership things will grow as others that join have resources you can pull from. It takes time. Even go to the county or city. They may have some resources you can pull from. My dad started the Hindman Vol. Fire Dept. back in the early 60s. We got a firetruck from Civil Defence. It was available, it was just a matter of making the right call to the right person. We had no tag for it. The county had an old dump truck that had been retired. We acquired the tag from it. (Notice we never stole, we acquired) We used that tag on many trucks threw out the years. To my knowledge it is still in use on one of the vehicles today....lol You just have to be resourceful. The city had a dump truck. It just set all the time. We borrowed it and you know it somehow turned into a tanker truck. Fund raisers. The local food bank may help you out. You just have to be persistent and put in a lot of time and effort.

Upon closer look the second picture is my 800. There would be more chips flying if it was Brian’s.

When we were done one of the guys had to tell Brian about my infamous spiral ham cut from many years back. I bucked a large log down at the lot and managed between a constant drift to the right on both sides of the log and the log being rolled with a skidsteer to not have one cut meet. They compared it to a spiral cut ham. I will never live it down.

Ron
nice pictures mr ron and brian wish i was there the 800 made that tree look good

Had a chat with a workmate who is very involved in the church and does alot of youth work n stuff a couple years ago they had a load of logs donated but nowhere to process them. They tried really hard to find somewhere the problem is with the dairy boom every little bit of land has grass for cows on it:(

So that's where we're at on the hunt for the right patch of land. The council doesn't want to know about it for health and safety reasons as usual.

It's sad that people are afraid of being sued but it does happen. You try and do something good for your community but everyone is so scared of being sued. I think people around here are a little less afraid of being sued. It is dangerous work but done right accidents can be held to a minimum. You keep looking for a piece of land and one will come up. Persistence will over come that obstacle. Someone, somewhere has some land that will let you use. Just a small piece to get started will do. Your first year you may only deliver 10 or so loads but it will be a start. Then you grow from there. As you gain faith in the community things will come. Look in the industrial areas of the community. I bet someone will have a little corner of a parking lot or corner of land that they will be willing to lend you. Again people in the church will be an easier sale. Just keep pushing. Also Ron has been in this longer than I and may be able to add some thoughts and ideas. We also have everyone sign a waiver. It is just a standard waiver and I see them out on the web all the time. You just have to jump each hurdle as they come, but one started it is worth the effort.

Sorry mate I miss read it was thinking it wasn't running for some reason. They do sound good like a motor bike more than a saw. What does yours sound like compared to the 850 my 800 with the 850 muffler is still not as nice as the 700 and 7-10

Ditto. But I still want a PM850 to see what all the fuss is about there, too.

Have you put the older muffler on poge? Mine has a bit more poke now maybe its perception perhaps but yea still worth the fiddle about. Really need to get someone with both and old style muffler to give a test. You naturally think that q port would give away power but at the same time the port is bigger overall
