My husband bought a 044 to cut firewood for my parents he cut exactly 3cords of wood and a couple trees down with the saw he kept it in immaculate condition, he got pancreatic cancer had a gentleman cut a huge tree down at our house and then he passed away before the tree could get cut up... I decided I could do it so I fired the saw up and proceeded to limb it and I got it stuck and the chain came off I took it to a local saw shop and asked them to put the chain back on as I didn’t know how he said I could pick it up the next day I left an hour later the building burned down... And they are trying to find a used saw to replace it with I stated I don’t want someone’s worn out saw I know mine was in great shape they are being difficult I have no idea what the cost would be I know my husband bought it new and it looked new hopefully someone can give me an idea what they would sell for thank you sorry I don’t have a photo since it burnt up in a fire.

500.00-600.00 for a real nice lightly used one.450.00 for a beat up one that runs good.

Was your husband a member on this site?

Odd the dealer wanted you to leave it over night, just to put the chain back on it. I mean, two bar nuts, and back the chain tensioner off, slip the chain back on the bar, done. Sucks they had you leave it over night, then their shop burned down. That is just horrible.

He wasn’t a member I just found you all on google, when I dropped it off he said they were swamped so I left it

Sorry for your loss, but welcome to the site. I commend you for going out and firing up that saw, it’s not a beginner saw, for sure!
I have a Red lever and it rips I wont let my ground guy use it is a strong runner! Can be a little jumpy under the right circumstances!

Definitely worth all of the $600 that @lone wolf stated!

And don't settle for less!

So sorry for your loss, I hope the shop makes it right.

They haven’t been very good about it, he wants to find me a used saw on offer up and give that to me I told him no I won’t have anyway of knowing if it is worn out or not I know the history of the saw lost

I should have looked and found out how to put the chain on myself I regret that now
Well legally they are responsible start a small claim in court! And now that you said it had that big bar and chain its worth a little more another 75.00

Thank you for the information it helps I know my husband would have never taken it there he would have put the chain on himself well he wouldn’t have got it stuck and had the chain fly off. But I know he wouldn’t tolerate how they are handling it.
