I still run a 2100...
You ain't cutting not 32" hard wood with a 460 on the east coast. Most guys are using 90cc or larger with a 28"-32". The 99cc 2100 with a 36" matches really well. I'm not humping the 298 around daily but for the larger trees it makes it a breeze. Most of my wood 24" and under gets cut with a ported 60cc with 24" bar though. I have a ported 288 with 24" or a 28" when needed.Used to have a 2100, have a 288. Ran them for a while and the novelty wore off.
Have a couple worked over 460s and they are plenty fine pulling a ~36" bar. Most of the time I just grab a smaller saw though. 360, 362, 372, etc, with 24" bar.
I’d bet its more about modern technology and not having your teeth rattled loose than it is not being a “real man” and posing for sports illustratedLet’s see a smaller saw with a longer bar match a 2100? What a beast, probably more saw than the average human could handle. Some say it’s too heavy, I say I’m at the gym when cutting. I kept it in the wood cutting not posing for sports illustrated.?... lol
I guess the industry is losing the real men like the ones it had over a century ago.
