I seen a pawn guy selling chainsaws. He said it runs and functions like it should. I received the saw and the rear handle was cracked. I found a replacement handle on eBay and got him to pay for it. Now the saw runs perfect. But in the beginning he lied it didn’t run.

The same seller is selling another saw with the same description, it runs and functions like it should. The carb needed rebuilding. It didn’t run but I got him to pay for a carb kit.

I go to purchase another saw figuring he’s a stand up guy, well 50% honest anyway. He blocked me. My point is to go after these slime balls who’s descriptions aren’t correct. I gave him a bad review anyway for lying.

Or just stop buying used saws on eBay?

I’m sure there are a few honest saw sellers on there, but I certainly haven’t dealt with them.

Seems most sellers on there have no idea what “runs and functions as it should” means, or are completely disingenuous slime balls.

Bought a MS201t on there some years ago, listed as being in “great condition”. When it arrived it was obvious the saw had been dropped from a tree (seller carefully avoided showing damage in photos), the bar was badly bent, the air filter had seemingly never been cleaned or replaced, oiler was clogged, and anyone who knew anything about chainsaws could tell it definitely didn’t run right.

After I’d replaced the bar, air filter, carb, AV mounts, and piston it ran as it should but I was into it more than the cost of a brand new one.

Fool me once...

I’m tired of Sleezebay bay sellers not being honest now that u bring it up.

I purchased a three book stack that holds tissue paper. Two arrived broken. The Sleezebay bay sellers can’t pack a package too now that u bring that up. Lol

Just check your food when going through the drive thru make sure you got what u paid for. Lol
I only eat at home.

Yes, there are both ignorant and sleazy sellers on ebay. Ebay mostly does OK at protecting honest buyers from them.

Unfortunately, there are also sleazy buyers on ebay, and ebay isn't doing a very good job of protecting honest sellers from them. That situation has the terrible effect of gradually increasing the sleazy seller ratio as honest sellers quit.

If the seller told me up front and being honest what the saws needed to run it would be ok. Don’t tell it runs or he ran it when it doesn’t run. Simple. I’m not looking to rip anyone off just don’t tell me it’s a bluebird sunny day when it’s cloudy and pouring rain it’s not my first rodeo.

Onetime I bid on a Husqvarna 250 cc cylinder, I won it, the bore looked really big for a 250 I been working on husky bikes for 35 years now. I guess it was a 390 cc. When it arrived I micd it and it’s a 420 cc cylinder from an auto that fits a 390. I contacted the seller and everything was cool.

Another time a bike salvage yard had a 250 wr husky engine for sale. The pic of the exhaust port size wise told me it’s a 430. The block number was 2087. Confirms a 430. I just sold it after decades in the shop. Bought it on a whim.

My point is don’t let these people lie to us.
With number of postings, that would be impossible. You expect them to police every ad? Cannot even keep public officials from lying. eBay will hold sellers accountable, it's just a long process.

Buying anything on flea bay is in the same category as "BUYING A PIG IN A POKE".

Especially a chainsaw.

I buy some stuff on ebay but only after reviewing the sellers and their feedback, usually seeing what else they have for sale and if it has a return policy stated.
It's a pain to return something for a FULL refund even when the seller has a FREE return policy, especially if you do not live close to the post office. (I recently returned a item that was advertised as new in the box with free shipping, it was DOA and by the time the seller paid for free return shipping charges and refunded, the seller had lost money on the item due to shipping charges. If the seller had been wise they would have said throw it in the trash and did the refund. (the item was not new in the box) Cost me lots of time and about $8 in gas just going to the PO for mailing then had to remind the seller by email that the package was delivered to them and had been in their return pile for 4 days with no refund.
