I'm not an expert on the subject but I have some 4 - 5 year old non-ethanol premix that still runs and starts fine, smells fresh, and no perceptible ill effects in anything i run it in...

Just to confirm, you are absolutely sure it was bad gas that caused the original sieze?
My FIL was using it when it died. I got it to repair. The cylinder and piston were scored. The gas I dumped out of it looked awfully thin for oil. He's 87 but swears he only used the Husqvarna premix that he bought with the saw. i don't know if i will ever know what really happened but the piston seized.

Scoring on one side of the piston or two? Do you still have the piston to post pics of each side?

No clue on the Husky premix, but Trufuel looks very light on dye and smells like carb cleaner, not gasoline. If that's the case for Husky premix, a whiff will tell you the story.

Hell with premix canned fuel , to many stories of saw failures . No appreciable cost saving , only potential for damaging expensive equipment . By non ethanol fuel if possible , mixed with premium FC or FD rated oil at the proper ratio . Never hurts to rinse your mixing cup residual oil into your fuel can also and to vigorously shake your fuel can prior to refilling your saw . I usually check colour of fuel also prior to usage , just in case ! Glad to hear Lowes stood behind their product . :dancing:

If Lowes is anything like Home Depot, they will take anything back if you make a big enough deal about it. Ask for a manager, and tell them why they ARE going to exchange it. Stress the exchange not refund

Used to work at Lowe's as a manager - if you came in acting like a Karen, I'd tell you that you needed to contact the manufacturer. If you came in, explained what happened, and were decent about it, I'd probably swap it out immediately.

Poor Karens of this world.
