'63 buick V8 saw

This may wind up in another forum...I was watching the Country channel
and they had a guy that built a race saw using a 1963 buick small block V-8 that he named the "Predator." Anyone ever heard of this?

local guys here. Predator makes rounds at log shows. Gasoline71 has the Termite. Here is the Termite and Gary. Typical fun around here.

"The Predator" and "The Binford" have always been the saws to beat since I have been attending shows.

They have pretty much set the benchmark in the Unlimited class. If you ain't runnin' under 2 seconds in your cut... you ain't competitive.

Would peak hp really be the case here or just being able to turn more rpms? prolly a lot can be done with the chain on these to improve them can't they?

Thats just stupid!!! What posible good could you do with somethig like that? There is no way something like that is practical!!! What a waste of time!!!!

Believe it or not... there is more in the technique of droppin' the saw through the log than anything else.

HP and RPM help... so does a sharp chain... but if the 2 dudes droppin' the saw are not in sync... the cuts don't go as smooth.

My lift partner and i are still workin' out the bugs in how we are doin' things.

Here are a few pics of the Termite's chain... it is just a tad... "hungry"! LOL We have yet to bog this thing down in the cut. We've made some mistakes... but it will not bog down. No matter how hard we shove on it.

3/4" Harvester chain...

It rips chunks instead of chips.
