How do these chips wire in and where do I mount it?
No idea if you use the single or twin terminal one but I have heard others talk about Nova.
They simply replace the points and condenser. MegaFire is a popular one these days, but they're all pretty much the same. Typically $12~$15 US.

Dual terminals are highly recommended so you aren't relying on the chip housing as the ground and so you can swap leads (change polarity) if necessary. Dual leads also allow for locating the the chip anywhere with RTV instead of requiring hardware and a location that will accommodate hard mounting. Plenty of wire is usually included to put em anywhere, but they are susceptible to excessive heat and should be located accordingly.

On the other hand, if you get the points right, (or replace em), that spark will stand up and bark. Sounds like spark may be the least of the saw's problems, though. I'd just pull it down and see what ya have. Some seals and rings may be all it needs to get a lot more out of whatever you decide on the ignition.

I really am going to have to pull it down. Been avoiding it as I love running it.
Awww well get a 24 back on the 800 and use it more I guess.

850 still oils like a post menopause woman.
Its definitely sealed against the tank. The pump seems to pump in ya hand happily enough. On the saw it does sod all. Shes manual only and that's not the worst bit. It looses prime in like 2 seconds. So a squirt of oil is about 6 pumps before it gets some. Halfway through its another 6 pumps or more.

Thanks for the points help lads. I haven't sanded them just paper and it seems better. A slightly blue spark. Not a big fat 1 I'd like though. Might need a sanding.

Have done some cool things to these but yup points are scary.

I'll see if it runs better atleast its a blue spark.

It's idling up a bit pto side down it could be crank seals but have had a few carbs do it too. It still has a nice 4 stroke on the throttle on its side.

Could well be crank seals too It's old and unopened and compression is starting to get down. If I forget the decomp after it fires it generally won't bite me too hard. The 850 definitely will so its due for a rebuild.

That 850 looks good Vinny. An LRB piston again? I see its got the SP oil pump
No this is a nos 92519 piston. Yes sp oil tank. Its what ive got.

On my 82cc saws if im replacing points i go ahead and take them clear out for more room. I mount the chip where the condenser mounts to. Then run the wires accordingly. As mentioned they can be mounted in a lot of places. I prefer the 2 tab ones. Typically the ground terminal i route to the mounting hole and screw. The other just attaches to the coil where the points wire goes. With the chip mounting hole at 6 oclock, the right terminal goes to the coil the left to ground.

I run .404 on alot of old saws, for semi chisel I use Oregon 27AX and 27AJ (skip) for 36" and above.
For regular cutting and felling I use #59 or #68 which is the same. Ofcourse due to the rarity of .050 guage .404 I'll use what I can find .
A 7/32 file works well on most .404 but I prefer a 1/4 file on it .
Old Stihl work well too ,but any micro chisel or semi chisel is gonna be tough and works well in dirty hard wood.
Thanks for everyone's input/ advice! I appreciate it.

Like Vinny I completely remove the points box and condenser and mount the chip in the condenser spot with a screw from the points box.
You can see the new wire on the coil that I connect to the + side of the chip ,- side I install a ground loop and mount under the chip.

Perfect. It may end up that way

I am not throwing stones, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, but I was 3D printing those 10 Series sawdust screens months before ProLine decided to have them injection molded somewhere off shore.

The earliest ones in 2018 had round holes but they didn't come out very nicely with my printer so we changed them to the triangle shaped.

I sell mine for $12.50 + shipping. Currently the small flat rate box is $9.50 and I can put up to three in a box. I'll drop the price to $10 each for 2-3 or special pricing for greater quantities.

I have seen that video/interview with the saw shop guy from pensilvaina. So yeah I knew it. I would like to purchase 3 screens.
Do we get a color choice?

Hello everyone! I am getting closer to tearing into my McCulloch Super 797 and get it back to running condition, however; before I do….I would like to have a Engine Gasket Set in hand before I start turning wrenches.

Problem is, It doesn’t look like there are any available for this model (OEM or Aftermarket for that matter).

Question: Does anyone know where I could get a Gasket Set for my saw?

Much obliged!
If you cant find any i would mesure the squish Before you take it apart then remove the cylinder take off the old gasket ,then bolt the cylinder back on and mesure the squish again . Once you figure out what was the thikness of the gasket buy a sheet of gasket material and cut one yourself
