I guess it is foolish and juvenile of me to argue with someone who has loaded 100s of thousands of rounds and was teaching reloading before I was born. We have been assured these statements are based on his vast knowledge and experience and not on his personal preferences, or simply based on what he has or does not have. So, if he says my statements were inaccurate, they must be!

So, let's recap what we have learned so that we can all take in the logic of his statements.

First, if you believe in neck sizing your brass to improve accuracy and extend the life of your brass, you are a dang fool, because it may not work in the double barrel Elephant Gun you need for Bear hunting. Of course, we don't have a double barrel Elephant Gun to determine if this is true or not, but we must believe him.

Secondly, if you purchased one of those 416 or 375 Ruger's, you are also a dang fool, because you don't need a caliber that large or a rifle that powerful to kill a charging Grizzly Bear. A well-placed shot with a standard caliber rifle is all that is needed ... those guys with those big powerful guns wasted their money! What kind of fools would do that?

Of course, the exception to that rule is if you happen to live in Zig Zag Bear Country ... then you need the most powerful large bore double barrel Elephant Gun known to man to hunt those Bears! The reason being if he Zigs to the left you use the right-hand barrel, and if he Zags to the right you use the left-hand barrel.

There, I hope everyone understands the logic and importance of today's lessons! I'm sure we will all be blessed with more of his logic in the future!

We have lost Colorado. More states r getting overrun. To many people from commie states running from the shite holes they created, but bring the same thinking that caused it. I want to leave MN too, but it is too late for me to move.
I just don't know where I'd want to move to. Part of the reason I stay out here is just the terrain, climate, and vast open land...if it wasn't for SF and L.A. I'd argue it's one of the most awesome places in the country.

I can hop on my dirt bike, ride from my house, and hit trails as far as 3.5 gallons of gas will take me...going to places that are remote and rugged. It sounds corny, but being able to ride my bike(both motor and pedal) up in the high country at 9k'+, is like my version of church...the rush/high from that is like nothing else for me.

Summer can't come soon enough:

Could be worse my uncle willy had a 3500 with a 305 4 speed manual in It..he had it geared with 4.88s. Wouldn't go a stitch over 50mph but it would pull a mountain.

Run, they liked ro crack between the cylinders. About one of the few times I'd reccomend a 3208 cat, so long as it didn't have the slave metering fuel system.

Some of the newer pickups have quite a payload and haul rating. Even in the late 90's seems all the big 3 started to up the ratings. That 12f250 we had at the township was rated to tow 18k lbs. That's 4k lbs more then my 96.

Couldn't go wrong with that combo. Pretty reliable engines in stock or slightly modified form. Had a few issues but nothing terrible.

X2 on that, seems like 10ish years ago everyone and their brother with a 7.3l needed an oil pan. One of the local shops had it down to a science, in and out in 2 hours. Dontnknow how they did it, but you showed up with a pan held together with hopes, dreams and bubble gum and left with a brand new pan under the engine.

I use a flex shaft dremmel but wish I could justify a foredom or similar. Just don't do enough porting to make it worthwhile.
Where I live 50mph is plenty fast.👍 I'm more worried about pulling hills on mountain roads. with a big load on the truck and trailer. Im talking several hills up and down. I don't want an hour and 45 minute trip to town. Turn into a three and a half hour trip to town.

Northern California is Awsome! Some of the people on the other hand? "Meh 👋"

The trouble is it is spreading ... they are talking about it here too!
Wish the city yuppies would stay the hang out of my area. I'm not remote or super rural but I've been seeing more and more oit of state plates everyday then you see Pa plates and its the same darn cars... same poor attitudes, poor political choices etc.
It's really hard to leave, between work and being pretty settled down in my current place. On top of that, I really like the part of the state I live in.

IMO, NY state politics is just as crazy as ours. I'm guessing the dynamic is like here too...in that most of the geographical regions of the state are fairly rational, it's just that the state is controlled by the crazies in the city.

It's spreading across the western US...which is odd, as the "rugged individualist" philosophy that was prevalent across the rural western states for generations, is at odds with a collectivist agenda. It's even seeping into places like Idaho.
I completely understand. My wife and I could pull out at any given moment, but family and money keeps us here. Until about a year or two ago her grandparents owned a huge ranch out in Montana. When her granddad died I wanted to move, she wasn't ready then her grandma sold the ranch. Besides ranching there isn't anywhere to work with decent pay thats close to trout creek. We're getting over run with out of state people where we're at now. It's like a rock and a hard place trying to figure out what to do.

The city people just use us for the water and for recreational opportunities. Lecture me about chainsaw use while driving 3-4 hours across the state to just go for a hike.

These people are nuts, and I'm not just talking politics(skirting the line here lol) ...I was doing a hazard tree mitigation project at one of the popular parks near the city(burned out doug fir snags.) I had my guys doing "traffic control" on the hiking trail whenever I'd start to cut up a tree. Anyway, a hiker got into an argument with one of my guys about how I shouldn't be using a powersaw and how it was triggering her anxiety. He asked her how we should cut dead snags down and her only suggestion was by hand. These were mostly 3' dbh trees mind you...

Yeah, I just basically do my "thing" and try to not let the silliness get to me. There will be a healthy black market once the small engine sales ban goes into effect. I've loaded up on a bunch of powersaws, blowers, etc in anticipation, but my local saw shop said don't worry about the ban...their trusted customers will still be able to get what they need...

Brother bear, I've driven heavy service trucks and towed heavy most my adult life. I'll be the first one to tell you, gutless just sucks. Been in many a truck that would pull a hill at 35mph screaming in first gear. My personal stuff has power, or enough to at least maintain speed going up a hill. Heck all we have is hills around here, not as bad as some places but you drive up and down, and up and down. I'll take bad mpg and Power when I'm loaded heavy anyday of the week and smile when I can drag the 14k lbs up the hill and not have my foot flat to the floor to maintain speed. That pretty much eliminates all the pre duramax chevy diesels, and any pre power stroke ford's. Dodge had the best engine with the 5.9l and I've owned and ran every version up to a 2019 model. I still miss my 90. Tubo, injectors, head studs, some pump work and a good clutch it had more power then most of the early 2000's diesels for less 1/8 the cost of a new truck. Kick myself for getting rid of it pretty often.
If your into gas it's either gonna be a low geared small block, or a mild geared big block. I'll never go back to a small block personally. This wind up ticker toy high rpm just to pull out engines we got these days just suck.

Hand her a cross cut and say "This otta take care of your anxiety. Have it mam! Let's see them skills!" While giving her a big 👍 at the same time! 🤣🤣

There’s a canal called the Friant-Kern Canal. For a time in the 90s someone had put up an equally big sign that said Friant-Through Kern-To Los Angeles Canal. Lol! Friant is one of the two dams near Fresno.

Bonfire is going good, got the red oak stump partially over it after cleaning about 200lbs of sand of it(sorry no pics of the scaled sand ;)). The root ball from the black locust that went down when the red oak went the opposite way I had hoped it would is also on the fire and burning as is the smaller cherry stump.

Got 5 sticks added to the pile, can't add any more til I get some cribbing down, the piles got to be 8' tall, kinda "tossed" the last log up on top.
There was one smaller one, didn't get a picture, just imagine one a little smaller than the last two.

Also got this load of locust and a little cherry for the to be split pile.

Then got a few pieces of dead BL branches that went right into the house. In this picture and the last, you can see a smaller oak I pushed over, next is the black locust next to it.
