I do like my M-Tronic saws, especially when changing locations and elevations. It is nice that they automatically adjust in just a minute or two.

The clean air filter tech and computer tuning leave two less things to worry about, letting me just focus on the task at hand.
Yours auto adjust to elevation change? Mine never did. I always had to do a carb reset going from sea level to 8000’ and back. Otherwise the saws ran like crap. 661, 261

I've heard that stihl has told dealers they couldn't have husky, that was one of the reasons husky put redmax out there, they were very well known by lawn care and landscape guys(not sure if they are still selling red max labeled saws since jred is gone.
Stihl dealers had a terrible time getting parts during covid, and had a huge shortage of mtronic saws because the chips were being made in Ukraine, that's why they were selling so many of the non-mtronic versions.
Taken last summer an Amish event in Eastern Ohio.

Redmax, more specifically zenoah is still sold as both redmax and zenoah brands, just not real popular here in the states. As far as I know jred didn't have anything to do with zenoah/redmax. If I understand correctly husqy bought out zenoah for their stratto tech.

As you can see in the pics, I put the "blade" on upside down. Makes it super easy to reach under a log and just cut up. Don't know why I didn't think of this before 🤣
I wondered if you were ever going to get to that pile? I've been going past quite a bit lately and no movement around.
I've been busy setting up a couple new splitting spots. This is what I set up at my place for my buddy to split his wood. He has no room where he lives and does quite a bit of wood at my place.

My elevation change is not as great as yours (only 2,200 feet), but it sometimes messes up standard carb saws. I was referring to my (new version) 261 and two early 462s. I have not had needed to bring my 661 up there, and since I bought that one used, I don't know if it is an early or late model.

A product of over scrounging, no sense of urgency to get at the wood. I have more than enough split and stacked for next winter already. I do feel I need to get it split and stacked off the ground even though the logs are on crossers up off the ground. Your setup is way more high volume than mine! 😂

We have a large hardware store / outdoor power equipment dealer locally that was very big on Jonsered, and also sold STIHL. 70% of the time a guy would walk in to buy a STIHL saw and walk out with a Jonsered.

We all know where Jonsered went ☹️.

So, they went to Husqvarna and STIHL a few years back.

Last week it was all STIHL. I asked a manager what happened, assuming STIHL applied some pressure. But he just looked at me and said he could not get parts for Husqvarna. He said he didn’t want to sell customers stuff he could not support.

This is a big store that does a lot of volume.

Anyone else hear stories like this?

I know you to be knowledgeable; how does a member get his free decals, after paying the freight???

I’m a mad man buying used bar and chain combos. Got 4x 36” bars with full house and milling chains, 2x 42” bars with full house and 2x 25” bars with the same that came for free along with the return saws. About $50 usd for each for the biggins. Barely used.
