Wish I had a source like that. Think I'd spend too much time there!
I do! I'm more than several years ahead. But it's feast or famine. None there this Spring and now back to normal. Then he could light a fire tonight and it would all be gone tomorrow. When it's there, you have to get on it. When I first started cutting there, I could do 3 or 4 loads in one day. Now if I do 2 like I did today, then I'm done for the day. Nothing left in the battery.

Sorry for the bad pics... ended up coming home with two... may I present ziva and zeke. Brother and sister, last two of the litter. I pretty much planned on just getting one, the guy said he didn't have many interested in the female, she was pretty shy. I just sat there with them for a while and she came over and crawled up in my lap and fell asleep. The kids had zeke crawling all over them in no time. Couldn't make a decision on which one so brought them both home. Had a 4 way argument on the way home about names. We settled on ziva pretty quickly, I had to fight to name the male zeke lol. Thought the names went well together.

I must confess..... I finally did it! I just could not resist the urges ...... to go scrounging. Couple days ago, when I first saw the Cherry/Mulberry, I tried to plan a time to go get it. Decided to take the morning off from painting and went out to the log yard. Got a load of Cherry, Mulberry and R. Oak that was just in the way. Couldn't get all the Mulberry on the first load so I went back for a second.

Still tons of R. Oak. Don't know when I'll get back to get some.

I put my Envoy back together sans the new exhaust manifold I’ll live with the leak hasn’t thrown any codes . After looking at the way it’s in there it would be a nightmare to get it out and replace . I still have a new one coming but I’ll put it stock for when the frame completely goes I’ve already patched both rear upper control arms brackets on the frame . I’ll do it after I pull the motor for one of my old trucks .

Scrounged a downed cherry from a recent storm, about 6 miles away, "free". Then made a pig of myself and did round two. There's more, not sure when I'll get time. I grouched at first on the butt being in a brook... Turned out to be a very cool place to cool off after soaking my clothes in sweat. In the shade even.

Well, it was another fantastic day weather wise here, sunny 70s with a breeze, and my buddy wanted to finish splitting this wagon load we cut and got started on a couple weeks ago,

I said before how I HATE these metal baskets and have turned them down when offered to me. One of the biggest reasons is, having to close the pallet forks a bit to move them, but I figured out a cure for that, so I'm now trying them again,

This works very well, so one problem solved!

Anyway, with an empty wagon, off we go to cut another load from the two BIG oaks I cut down some time ago. One tree is now all cleaned up, so we started taking all the limb wood from the second one,

Some of the limbs were quite big too,

and soon we had another big load to split!

AND there's more than another big load yet to get!

but that's a job for another day!

Tree on the back line was snapped off about 12' up. Thought my saw was sharp but the 028 was cutting pretty slow. Wood was dark and heavy even the "bark off" dry tops.

After trying to hand split then running it though the 22 ton,

the bug patterns under the bark, and branch angles have me thinking it's Red Elm. Have to go back and get about 20' of trunk blocks, but that's starting to rot, darn it. There's more down back there. Big ole Cherry tore out a 10' root ball going over, that must have been some strong wind.

We got 17 pics (a record) from one of our older trail cams today (so not quite as clear as the new ones) from just before 4:00 till about 6:30, but 4 of the pics show 2 deer at the same time and one of them even bedded down in front of the camera! You cannot clearly see both racks at the same time, but within minutes of each other there is both an 8 pt with very large G2s and a 10 pt with normal size G2s.

It is the first time we have recorded 2 nice bucks like that at the same time. Hope they hang around till the season starts!

Note that in the 2nd pic there is a second deer in back of the log on the left.

A couple of weeks ago I needed a Stihl part and since the place that was 10 minutes away closed, I went to the one that is 20+ minutes away.

I was pleasantly surprised to see they basically had all the pro models in stock ... 261, 362, 400, 462, 661 and 881 plus top handle saws (different models).

I guess the big shortage is behind us.
