Yes, I did the same as you. It just seemed the way to do it. I did put two layers of copper to raise it off the case. Just what I have on hand. I may revisit it later.

Awesome! Yes it made a little more sense to do it that way.
I also may need a little more height because I did still happen to kiss the case when I bolted it it to the tank, but I didn’t mind too much cause I wanted to try it anyway, I’ll probably make a little thicker one so it takes the little pressure there is off the mounts so that don’t prematurely wear

FB Marketplace today. this thing is a tank. my current vise is a 5" jaw Columbian. bought it new about 20 or so years ago. not sure where it was made, doesn't say on it. I know the older Columbian's were made in the USA, but newer ones are made in china. it's been a great vise, but I've been replacing my old stuff with USA made tools over the last 5 years or so. this Parker is only a 4 1/2" jaw but is heavier than the Columbian. my reading says they started making this model in the 1890's. I found an 80-page Chas Parker catalog online dated 1912 and the 2X model was not listed so it's older than that. the jaws were held in place with drive pins.

finally got around to this, it's been on Marketplace forever. needed a 2nd reason to drive almost 2 hours ea way. runs nice. my first 80CC saw. just revving it the snap is awesome. 24" bar.

The 130 is a points ignition saw, the engine has to come out of the housing to work on the ignition or carburetor on the Mini Mac models.

got the old Parker vise degreased, wire brushed, removed the last vestiges of original paint and into the tub of homemade evaporust.

That saw is actually an Eager Beaver 2.0 which indeed is an electronic ignition version. The starter cover is from a 130.

2 gal water (cold. no HWH in my shop).
105 grams of the Tetrasodium EDTA powder.
40 grams powdered citric acid to get to a neutral PH of 7.
5 ml dawn dish soap as a surfactant.

the Tetrasodium EDTA makes the water super alkaline. the 40 grams of citric acid brings it back to neutral PH.
