RE the mill… suggests a semi permanent set up with wheels removed and up on blocks would be a good precaution for folks to take… wheels locked up elsewhere. Make a bit harder to move…I'm way behind again. Was just looking at the wood working projects going on. I took down a couple big Fir trees last year. This summer I traded a 6' Woods bush hog to my neighbor in WV for milling them for me. Had 10-12 slabs milled 4" thick with straight edge on one side, live on the other for mantel pieces, then the rest 1 1/2" for shelves. Then I decided I'm going to plane them down to 3/4" for paneling in my building in WV. He has everything stacked and stickered. I took the mantel pieces home. I went up for hunting season, and when I got to his property line there were no trespassing signs up. I knew something was wrong. I saw his mill was gone and hoped he put it in the barn for winter. No, his son stole it. He said his son had just got out of rehab a few days earlier. He heard him taking it and called the police. When the cops got there he was gone. While giving the details he said him and his son had actually gone in half and half on it. They said there was nothing they could do if it was half his. I guess I'd agree. The kid, 20 something, is a very talented mechanic, had a good job at a Toyota dealership. Dumped his girlfriend and ran off with some crack head to Ohio. Hate to see these young people today getting all screwed up. Different friends lost 3 kids in 3 years. Not kids really, young adults, 2 in the late 20's one early 30's. Two to heroin, one alcohol.
