041 identification please

I've been given what I think to be an old Stihl 041 and would like to find out it's model type and age. I've stripped it down for a dam good clean before I try and get it working.

It's serial number is 5268715
It has the numbers 91110 084 09 and 9 1110 021 0832

I'll post a few pics when I get them from my phone onto PC but meanwhile any help much appreciated as to what else to look for.

From what I've read on here it seems to be a good saw and worthy of a restoration as a saw to keep and enjoy?

Their intake tract gives the most trouble on this saw, many spacers and gaskets to make sure they are not leaking air. The 041 was a known heavy vibrator and it had plenty of problems with stripped screw threads and wallered out screw holes. Yours is the AV model so it is easier in the hands when running.

Thanks for the reply - so it's an AV then. Can this be "narrowed down" further ie engine size? Date of manufacture?

Hoping to gas it up and pull the cord tomorrow!

Engine size, 61 cc, they had a long production run so telling the year is very difficult.

I would place it late 70s or early 80s... the logo evolved from the saw in log into this one during the late seventies, I believe.

This one here, non-AV, was purchased new in 1980.
