I ordered a new air filter for my 064 and picked it up today. The parts guy had 2 different breakdowns for the 064. One was an auto type filter. The other one looked like the one i needed. Well, I got home and it's not right.
This is what my saw looked like coming apart:

this is the new part I was given:

Part # 1122 120 1615

from his breakdown it looked like there were also a rear air filter #1122 120 1021 and some type of baffle looking thing # 1122 120 4101. I just have a rear base plate(part that mounts to the carb) and the filter. The #'s stamped on my filter were #1122 120 1605 112. I was kind of shocked when he told me it was $28.00. I was kind of pissed that it wasn't the right one.:chainsaw: WDO

Well the "little" one won't even seat on the base I have. WDO

PM me your email addy and I'll send you an IPL. My 066 has the HD filter with the foam pre-filter.

Because at some point they changed the filter style and you have to replace the backing plate and a couple other parts. I had the same issue because on the parts breakdown it looks like the filter you have should fit on the plate you have on your saw. You need 1122 120 1621, which is listed as and air filter, but it's a backing plate and filter, you'll need the baffle 1122 120 4101 and you have the filter 1122 120 1615.

Yes, that is what my IPL shows. I was able to locate a gold dealer that had an old stock filter that was the same as one one I took off the saw. It seems like that would be the lowest cost route to go. I problem is that with the old setup it looks like the carb can suck air from all around the inboard side of the filter assy. I'm not sure if that is correct or not. Sure doesn't seem right. With my current setup it it would suck air from the the enclosed carb housing areas around the areas in red.

Yeah I don't know what the deal is with the old setup, you're correct there's nothing to prevent it from sucking dirty air. I could only find these pictures of the new setup.

Anybody know if there is a Technical Information Bulletin
for engineering changes to this filter assy.?

Well, I guess I'll go back to the gold dealer in in morning and take back the 1122 120 1605 (old style) and get all the parts to convert it over to the new style filter. I certainly don't want it sucking air from inside the carb housing. May as well be running no filter at all if that was the case. What a PITA....and costly to boot. WDO

Mine came with the after market air filter system...<BR>

Heck, if it was mine, I'd convert it to the HD style...

---- pssst.. you ARE and ASer... :)

All's fair in Love and Saws on ebay.

What filter comes with that kit? Is it flock or that plastic screen stuff. Flock is a better filter for dusty conditions. I'm thinking a "winter kit" might just be geared for keeping snow out. I'm just guessing though and can't tell from the picture what it is. Also, if the shroud is set up to route air from around the cylinder to preheat it, watch out running it in the heat of summer like that. Might make the saw run hot. Again, I don't know but something to look out for.

From what I can tell it's plastic screeny stuff. I'm 95%
sure it's the same filter that the dealer sold me. Don't think they have the flocked stuff any longer. WDO

I did look into that. It was right at $100 from Curt for the parts (new & used) I needed to do it. Maybe if I had some more time to spend looking for deals on used it would have been lower. I just couldn't swing that right much now with all the other stuff I've been buying to get this sawer setup. Thanks WDO

I’m having the same issue with my 064. My dealer quoted me at just under $80 for the HD conversion.
