It all depends on the size of the bar/wood. For 36"+ wood, the 8 dogs down to much. If you're running a small bar on it, the 8 works great.

I you need to get a smaller saw (or bigger wood), not a larger sprocket. Then again, I wouldn't happen to know anyone with an 880 and a 21" bar...

Generally speaking, in stock form there are faster saws in <20" wood... not to mention most are much lighter.

Regarding the 13 pin, as you add pins, the size gets larger. At some point you can not keep a chain on the saw. You'll be fine with an 8 pin, but you'll find a 13 pin would never work on a stock saw.

Unless your saw is highly moddified, it would never pull a sprocket that big. Why in the world would you want to use a 088 to cut 20" wood. My 460 would likely out cut it.
