260 Pro, very well maintained (plug, filter, pick-up), saw idles fine but when you give it throttle, it dies out when you get over 1/2 throttle, any ideas?

First thing to always check is your muffler screen..is it clogged up..?? If it is..clean or remove it..!!

I will assume you've checked your air filter and cleaned it..blow air from inside to out..!!

Next change your fuel filter to a new one..couple bucks

Next adjust your carb correctly...http://www.madsens1.com/saw_carb_tune.htm

Try these simple things first..and report back.

The rest gets more complicated..!!

Try running it without the air filter. If it runs OK then it is choke related. Sometimes the spring that holds the choke flap back (inside the air filter) gets weak and allows it to be sucked forward and so cut off the air to the motor.

This is common with aftermarket filters, their springs are too weak or loose from the start.
