I have a 261 husky and just got a clutch cover from a 262 xp. There are two tabs on the end that probably fit in a groove on the 262. can I cut these off with a dremel tool and use the 2 nuts to hold the bar and cover on? I can get pics if needed. Thank you

It should fit - the 261 is just a (seriously) de-tuned 262xp.
Just a guess, but your new cover may be from an older 262, if those tabs are in the way, just grind them off - or ask Spike60........

The two tabs were on 254 and 262 to "hold" the cover close to the case.The cover being plastic when you tighten the two bar nuts,it try to open,thats why they put tabs.The 262 should fit ok.

Just tuck the tabs in first and THEN put the cover over the bar studs.
