Wanting a new saw was all set to pickup a 462 c but have come across a used 661 only a few months old for 800. Figure with the 661 I could do some milling if I ever want to go down that road. Really like the power and weight of the 462 for general bucking and fire wood use.

As you eluded to, they're different saws for different purposes. If you want an all-around saw that you'll use for a variety of tasks, the 462 is a great choice. If you want a big-@ss saw for bucking big wood all the time, 661. I'm not real up on chainsaw milling, but I don't think the 661 is very many guys' first choice. I think older technology like the 390/394/395 or ms660 are proven milling machines, plus the 3120/088/880.

Not saying you can't mill with a 661 or use it for limbing if you want to. The ones I've run have been nice saws. But, compared to a 462, it's a bunch heavier and bulkier.
