346XP throttle issue

Just bought it. Seller is no help. Good compression. Runs fine. Approx half the time when you pull the throttle nothing happens. Just idles. Let off do it again....nothing....maybe....or maybe it goes. Cuts like a demon when it goes.

It's not starving or loading up....it acts like the throtttle is disconnected.

When it does go it stays at rpm until you let off.

Idles fine

Compression is 150

Ideas?

Throttle linkage would be a good place to start looking. Pop the top cover off and work the throttle to try to see whats going on.

this happened to a friend on his 359. After tinkering with the throttle linkage for a while I noticed the pin for the trigger had worked its way out. A 16d nail came to the rescue. when I cut it off with a sidecutter it deformed the nail enough to hold in place. The saw is no beauty queen, the nail will stay...
