Better question,and you may now is, have you run the saws enough to see if a leak occurs? I’m hoping not.

I have several saws ive rebuilt in daily tree service use for a friends business. The ones ive done for myself have been run plenty as well. The stuff works fine for me.

You're talking about the permatex product OP mentioned correct?

I'm not worried. We've used it on snowmobile and outboard cases without any failures. A cylinder base shouldn't see anymore pressure than a case half.

It’s not the pressure as there isn’t much, I agree. It’s the potential of the fuel softening and eating at the sealant resulting in an air leak.

Ive used it on plastic clamshells as well. 3 years later, no issues to my knowledge. I think the label does say it doesnt bond to plastic...

Just an update: I've ran 2 tanks through the saw, I really like it, much more power than before. Still needs some fine tuning, I kept it a little fat. Compression now measures 175 psi cold. Next project is to try it out on my Lewis winch, should pull better than the Super XL.
