Today i got the rest of the parts primed
and painted yellow. Again Napa's single stage paint.
Had them match a couple NOS parts i have.
Looks pretty dam close to me.
I now will let it dry for a few days before assembling.
I will tackle the carb next. Not sure yet which carb
i'm going to use, ether the original flatback or a tilly.

Lee-

Is that a Reznor heater in the corner of your shop? Both of the Stihl dealerships I worked in had identical ones. They have a unique sound to them.

I am a bit jealous about your folks paint skills.
Don't know what it is, but I hate the prepararion work and subsequent painting. Probably also because I have no bead blasting equipment so far.

Looking at those nice paint jobs I get a bit depressed...:(

It's not hard Roland, The 2 main tools you
need. A good parts cleaner and the blast cabinet.
Then a good steady hand with the paint gun.

I had some time tonight so i did a
little assembly. Installed the reeds and lower fuel tank,
Not the guide pins in the cylinder so the gaskets stay in
place. Installed new small style muffler, chip deflector,
rubber handle grip and the rubber pads on the thumb controls.

I need to get a media blaster...

I also wish I had the time. Soon... when my shop is all arranged the way I want it, and life isn't so hectic. :)

I can only wish my 797 looked that good... awesome Lee!!!

What a beauty!! Excellent job on the restore. I redid a couple old outboard motors to this extreme. One was a 1956 Evenrude 5.5

Trippy thing about your 797 here is the pull rope set up.:dizzy::dizzy:

Here it is pretty much done.
Notice the spacer i made to replace the bar
so i casn mount the starter. I didn't have the
correct 797 carb so i wanted to try out this
Kart carb. the bore measures .950 much bigger
than stock and has no primer or choke.
I installed new wrap handle and bracket as well
as many other parts. Next will be the bar and chain
then a video of it in the wood. I will post a video next
without the bar.

Very nice Lee.

I have to ask, where did you come up with the NOS decals and handle? Please feel free to PM me if you don't want the whole world to know.

Let us know how the big McCulloch carburetor works. I am still trying to learn my way around the standard McCulloch flat back carburetors, some of those kart carburetors are a whole other chapter...

And here is a video.
You can here a couple what sound like bogs
but it was actually the stop switch cutting in and out.
Seems to run pretty good. Hope to have a bar on tonight.

Did you use a spacer to get the starter to engage the pawls correctly?

I would love to know where you got your decals to. . . .

Awesome, Lee! I love it. Keep the cart carb, may be neat setup that way. Makes it unique and more desireable in my mind. Have to see how she cuts.
