acorn size

What's the biggest acorn you've ever seen, what kind of oak did it come off of. I found some really big red oak acorns, they kind look prehistoric, pretty big anyway. Not off of the biggest tree in the woods, but pretty big. Why do some trees produce much larger acorns, I looked under the biggest trees I could find and they tended to be a bit bigger than a little smaller trees.

Huge acorns but the weirdest thing is nothing like to eat them.. deer, turkey -- even the squirrels leave them be!

Dont really know about the biggest , but the ones on my red oak overhanging my driveway were big enough to put dimples in the hoods of my cars/truck.

I think Burr oak is known for the largest acorns. Some bigger than a golf ball.

Burr. Much bigger in Kansas than in MN. All of my Burrs have deer paths worn in circles around them. I have to believe a couple make a meal.
