I have a SS model J that was made under license in Quebec, built in the 80's .
Here's a vid of a current day Gripo splitter .
Made in Quebec as far as I can tell .


That.dude reminds me of Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynanite. . . lol it appears he has a very strong back. I don't know how people can split wood without gloves. I end up with all kinds of splinters in my hands and assneck. :(
 
Picking rounds up off the ground just KILLS my back, that's why i NEVER let the rounds hit the ground, just to have to pick them up again to split!

I've got no dealers close to me but since I know that my model J was made in Quebec I'd bet money that the Gripo is a J .
I did try to buy a used Gripo 6 years ago but someone else beat me to it .
If you watch the machine itself you'll see that it runs like a J unlike most of the copies I've seen run .
