Anybody know what kind of wood this is?

I'm bad, zoomed in. a little to dark in the heartwood for maple. Ok I'll swing to walnut.

Its definitely black walnut. I have been burning alot of it lately. Takes off well and burns pretty hot but doesnt last long neither do the coals. But this is my experience burning with a non epa stove.

Yup. black walnut. This is the first year I've burned much of it and I like it. Took a little to get used to the smell of it burning, but I grew to like that too.

the reddish color of the bark is from the log having been dragged

It is walnut. Scrape the bark on a known walnut.
