Apple tree Seedlings.

All,

I have two granny smith apple tree seedlings that are about eight months old and about two feet tall. Two weeks ago I repotted them from a 4-inch pot to 3 gallon pots. Now I notice that the bottom few leaves have yellowed, some of the middle leaves are curling at the edges but the top leaves still look OK. In the past when I've neglected to water them the top leaves were always the first to droop. What did I do wrong and can I correct it?

Possibly too much water.
Soak the trees, and let them just dry out before watering again.
