articulating boom

I have an uncle in Rushtown Cemetery (Billy Whitaker) as the result of a boom failure. He ran a tree service, and if I'm not mistaken, there was some form of cable articulation in place, and it broke. The truck had just been serviced and had cables replaced weeks earlier. He ended up riding the bucket into the side of his truck, which ended up killing him. This was about 20 years ago, but still worth mentioning. I've used an articulated boom for all kinds of work in the past without any problems. The one thing to be sure of is that you don't overextend yourself, especially if the wind picks up. It's amazing how quickly things can get awful dicey.

The moral of the story: Whatever you decide, always exercise good judgment and make sure you maintain your equipment.
