Let’s say you have all the power heads covered. What bar lengths would you choose to cover likely contingencies in the southeast US? I have 14, 16, 18, 20, 24, 28, 30, 36, 42 (mix of husky and stihl). I could probably narrow that down. Think 3 saw plan.

Here's my line up, 16, 18, 20, 24, 36. Well the top handle stihl has a 14 but I dont count that. I basically dont use the 16 and 18" bars. The 20" will do all the smaller bars can do and more. I do wish I had a 42" bar, but just for the mill. Jmo.

So really you are in the 20, 24, 36, 42? I like that range and was exactly what I’m leaning towards.

Yep. Havent used anything smaller then a 20" in a long time, other then climbing work, and that's not frequent. My typical saw line up is ms192tc, 562xp, 390xp. Normally just the latter 2 and a back up saw go with me anymore.

I got a wee saw a couple of years ago with a 14” bar. A Makita 35 or 38 cc it works great for liming small stuff to include cutting up bushes. Next step up is 20”. My 562 wears the 20” and covers most everything. After that a 79cc Dolmar and a 90cc stihl covers the rest.

Cutting hardwood in NorthEast Tennessee, my principal three bar lengths are 20, 25 and 33. In order of use, it is 25, 20 and 33. I have more, but if I were limited to three that is what they would be. My three most used saw sizes rounded to the the nearest 10 cc are 60 cc, 80 cc and 120 cc.
