can i use a 9 pin rim on a stock bar or i have to modify it?

that will be my first try with something bigger than a 8 tooth

its a 3/8 with a 16 inch bar...

9 pin mostly requires taking just a little off the heal. depending on the saw and brand of bar you may need to move the adjuster hole and extend the bar slot. If you are dealing with an outboard clutch then likely need to trim and extend the bar slot more just to get the chain on.

Go to a 10 pin or more and then you really need to look at cutting a bar down from a longer one to get enough depth at the heal.

I've found that the steel is extremely hard, real tuff to cut. I've found that grinding works better. I use my 1/4 inch air grinder with cutoff wheels, stones, grinding cylinders.
